Summer 2021 Updates

We're welcoming back campers this summer!

Dear Friends,

We are so grateful to once again be opening our gates to campers!  Although camp will look a bit different this summer in order for us to comply with current guidelines, you can expect your child to experience an environment that honors God, engages Christian Science in ways that are joyful and authentic, and is full of friendship and wholesome activity.

Metaphysical Theme: You are invited to join us in working with CedarS 2021 metaphysical theme of “grace.” The line from Mary Baker Eddy’s spiritual interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer, “Give us grace for to-day; feed the famished affections” is inspiring our approach. (Science and Health 17:5)  Instead of seeing youth as coming to camp depleted from a difficult year, we see each camper and counselor as already “filled up full” and complete. Our staff will be actively witnessing the ways that divine Love has already supplied each camper with companionship, ability, perseverance, gratitude, grace, and joy.

Prayer Watch:  All are invited to join us in our summer prayer watch.  This is a practice we began several decades ago, and it vitally supports the harmony and safety of camp and the spiritual growth of all who participate. Please contact office@cedarscamps.org for details on how to participate.

2021 Guidelines and Updates:  CedarS is meeting all local regulations and working closely with the American Camp Association (ACA) guidelines as we strive to follow the Golden Rule and be good neighbors.  We have updated facilities, modified programs, and given our staff extra training on how to follow protocols and approach them from a metaphysical standpoint, praying for “grace to go forward.” (Christian Science Hymnal, no. 278)  The guidelines are being updated regularly, and we are adjusting ours accordingly.

Masking Specifics:  We have programmed camp so that campers do not need to mask with their cabin/program cohort, and we are conducting activities within these cohorts.  Everyone at camp is asked to mask in the dining room when up from their table. Given this approach, the vast majority of time at camp is mask-free.  Some people at camp have expressed that they feel more comfortable masking even when not required, and we respect this choice as well.

Every Good Gift:  We will be welcoming campers from many different locations. Fundamentally, we are committed to regarding each camper and staff as a precious gift from God who brings only good.  As the Bible promises, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:16, 17)

All campers, staff, and adult helpers are being sent a 2021 Handbook with pre-arrival and additional 2021 guidelines.  If you are considering CedarS this summer and would like more information on our 2021 protocols, please email office@cedarscamps.org.

Looking forward to the best summer yet!
