Staff & Friends Retreat

Help get camp ready for campers and families this summer!  Volunteers are needed to support maintenance projects, grounds work, gardening, housekeeping, and the riding program.  Bring your “open hearts and willing hands” (Hymn 58).

Timing

Come for as much as you can!  Volunteers will be arriving as early as Thursday evening on April 21st and staying as late as Sunday afternoon.  

Meals

Food service director, Wade Wolfe, will be serving meals!  The first official meal served will be dinner on Thursday, April 21 and the final meal will be lunch on Sunday, April 24.

Transportation

Volunteers are asked to provide their own transportation to and from camp.  If you are looking to ride share, please note that on the sign-up form

Christian Science Support

There will be a Christian Science practitioner at camp supporting this event and giving a “Prac Talk” each morning after breakfast.  On Sunday, we’ll have a church service at 8:30am. Let us know if you’d like to help as a reader or musician!

Tuition Credit

Participants will have the option to earn tuition credit to apply to a camper of their choice. Tuition credit amounts vary by the volunteer’s skills and the assigned tasks. Teen participants may also earn community service hours, documented by a certificate from CedarS.

Youth Participation

This weekend is recommended for participants age 12 and up.  If you have a child under 12 who is ready to pitch in and work full days, please reach out to the office for further discussion.  A parent or guardian must be present to supervise youth under 18 at all times.  

Pet Policy

We are not able to accommodate pets for the weekend. 

Items to bring: 

  • Pillow, sleeping bag, linens, towels

  • Close-toed shoes, mud boots, long pants, jacket and rain gear

  • Work gloves, ear protection, eye protection

    (CedarS also has sets available to borrow) 

  • Tools applicable to the work you’ll be doing such as garden tools, handyman tools, etc.

  • Ask Bill Nisbet if you have specific questions about tools for your assigned jobs. 

  • Optional Food Donation:

    If you would like to help cover the cost of meals and room preparation for this weekend, you might consider donating approximately $25/day. This is completely optional – we are just so grateful for any extra help!
