Metaphysical Application Ideas for the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson on “REALITY” for March 21-27, 2021 by John & Lindsey Biggs, C.S.
THE SUPREMACY OF SPIRIT DESTROYS THE MORTAL BELIEF CALLED MATTER. Our world is in desperate need of healing — as we face the impositions of hate, war, disease, deception, domination, imbalance, and destruction of all kinds. Our prayers make a difference! Our growing understanding of the supremacy of Spirit enables that supremacy to be demonstrated in our personal lives and in the world as a whole. We must each do the best we can and expect to see things more and more clearly as we go forward.
We will learn from several Biblical examples this week just how solid a foundation faith can provide when we rely on our spiritual senses for the truth or reality of all situations. This kind of substantial, bedrock, spiritual understanding can bring aid to war-torn Ukraine, it can solve interpersonal problems in families or business or school, it can help us see health where sickness seems present.
Many of us are praying right now about turmoil in the Ukraine and Russia. The promise Isaiah heard speaks directly to this situation. Our prayer enables us to feel a true sense of “a covert from the tempest,” protection from the storm. We can look beyond the outward appearance of war, to see the stillness of our Christ-bond sheltering us and giving each and all of us peace in the midst of turmoil. Our eyes shall see this peace and our ears shall hear this peace. As we read in Isaiah, “The work of righteousness is peace; and the effect of righteousness is quietness and assurance forever.” Each of us as individuals and all of us collectively can accept the divine promise found in Isaiah: “my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” (Isaiah 43: 3-18) This simple promise is a strong prayer for peace.

We are given the examples of Solomon and Christ Jesus, both of whom went directly to God (to infinite Mind) to discern how to solve every problem they faced. The answers they received were practical and thorough. As we go to God — consistently turn to Mind for direction rather than depending on human intellect or reasoning — we can be sure that we, too, will be led to right answers and will bring healing to our world.

“… God’s will for us is freedom! “God’s being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.” (Science and Health, p. 481:3–4)
This is where we live, move and have our being. And since we are the reflection of God we reflect this infinity, freedom, harmony and boundless bliss. How about infinite understanding? Yes, each of God’s spiritual ideas possesses and reflects infinite understanding. How about boundless bliss? Yes, each of God’s spiritual ideas reflects and expresses boundless bliss! That means light, joy, freedom! Something we can all agree to wanting to have!
God is making us to know wisdom. God causes us to know wisdom! And we respond to that cause as we awaken to the spiritual understanding of being, of what is real and true. God causes us to know wisdom and we respond – everything in our being – responds to the Truth. Since we are spiritual, we respond to Spirit (like producing like). The effect is harmony, health, joy, movement, and holiness.
God is the Cause and the effect is wisdom, true knowledge, understanding – and, yes, freedom!
Truth is knowing itself – knowing its own infinitude!
