[PSST: Shift your view of yourself (GT) Daily live with love, power & a sound mind (RR) Possible Sunday School Topics for the Christian Science Bible Lesson on; “Probation after Death” for October 27, 2019 By Steve Henn, C.S. steven.henn@gmail.com PSST for Golden Text (GT) – What does it mean to “put on” incorruption and immortality? How does this action shift our view of ourselves and our daily work? What does this do to our relationship with our peers, our family, our teachers, etc.? PSST for Responsive Reading (RR) – What does the spirit of fear look like? When are your students tempted by this false spirit? How can they respond? What does the spirit of love, power and sound mind look like? How can we all live in these three daily? What does it take to be rooted and grounded in love? Can we be otherwise? What would you do differently if you knew you were filled with all the fulness of God? PSST for Section 1 – How large are God’s mercies and compassion? How often are they renewed? What does this mean for our daily interaction with God? How does this help us battle against feeling alone, ashamed, unloved, or unworthy? How does seeing God in this way help to renew our minds and transform our experience? How does this help us to overcome evil with good? What is the difference between the mortal and the immortal? Where do we want to put our trust? PSST for Section 2 – What thoughts does God think towards us? Why do these thoughts matter? Can they impact our daily lives – our experience – our interactions with others? Why is it important to relate to God as a shepherd? What position does this put us in – what position does this put Mind in? How did Elijah relate to God? How did this help him travel to find the widow woman; how did this help him to heal her son? Have your students ever felt like something important to them has been taken away unfairly – like the widow woman’s son? How can they resurrect and protect those ideas most dear to them? How does relating to God as a shepherd help with this? PSST for Section 3 – Why does the Bible state that Jesus was moved with compassion – why is this important to note? Are your students moved with compassion for those around them? What does it mean to be moved with compassion? What does it require of us to be so moved with respect to others around us? Can we be so moved without putting ourselves “above” others? How can we be at the same time supremely humble and universally loving? Do your students see God as a refuge, strength, very present help in trouble? How closely do your students relate to God? Could this have something to do with our ability to be both humble and loving at the same time? PSST for Section 4 – What was the purpose behind Jesus’ ministry? Did he go through all he did for his own benefit and glory? What does Jesus want to give to everyone who believes on him? What does it take to receive all that God, good, Christ is constantly supplying to us? What does “issues” in citation B12 mean? What are the false trusts we must divest thought of? If we release false trusts, what do we replace them with? Is this done with a mighty effort? How does releasing false trusts impact our daily lives? How would we interact with others differently if we were to release all false trusts? PSST for Section 5 – Are your students’ eyes always looking towards God? What does it look like when this is the case? Does looking towards God prevent us from doing anything we want to do? How could looking towards God actually help us achieve our most cherished goals? What does it mean to be in Christ? What in our experience can be considered old and worthy of being passed away? What in our experience is continually becoming new? Why is it important to see newness every day? Are your students planting themselves in Christ? How do they measure the progress that is leading them towards universal salvation? Can they see that salvation as being truly universal – available to all of God’s creation? PSST for Section 6 – What is righteousness, and how does one stay in the way of righteousness? How do we avoid judgmentalism in the pursuit of righteousness, while maintaining a clear discernment for what is right and what is wrong? What does God know of our integrity? What if we have done things in the past that we are not proud of – how does that impact God’s view of our integrity? Is God’s judgment of us just? What does Her judgment reveal? When will Christ appear? What does it mean to appear with him in glory? Can we be in any other state than in the glory, grandeur, and peace of God, good, Soul, Spirit, Life? What would your students do if they knew their thoughts and being were truly boundless – guaranteed to reach the divine glory?
