TIRED OF WAITING? Here’s a PSALM to HELP YOU get THROUGH any waiting period of SEEMING STAGNATION  “Unto You, O Lord, do I lift up my soul… Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.” (Ps. 25:1, 5/cit. B1, NKJV; SH 593:20) “My soul, wait thou only on God, for my expectation is from him.
In God is my salvation (from false beliefs) and my glory.” (Ps. 62:5; SH 593:20)
“Divine Love leads me and you “THROUGH the valley of death,
(where) I will fear no evil; for [Love] is with me…” (Ps. 23; SH 578:10)

[Warren:] In the header of this GEM about waiting, I capitalized THROUGH, because Love means for us to keep moving and serving—never to wallow (swallow, or “stall-oh!”) in the “darkness” (and “vestibule”) parts of the definition of “Wilderness.  Loneliness; doubt; darkness.” Spontaneity of thought and idea; the vestibule in which a material sense of things disappears, and spiritual sense unfolds the great facts of existence.” (SH 597:16-19) These great correlative passages are perfect for our rite (& divine right) of passage to come out of a restrictive-protocols pandemic when right activity seems to be somewhat on “pause — (for us to) wait on God…” (SH 323:10).  Check-out a variety of other very helpful insights about inspiration to defeat inlation in “Recent Daily Lifts” at: https://www.christianscience.com/christian-healing-today/daily-lift

The idea of being a patient waiter, as if on God’s wait staff, means being ready to graciously wait on and do whatever is needed to be an attentive host only to good—to “entertain angels…” by actively hosting ONLY good. (SH 299:15)  This also relates to when Jesus finished a 40-day period of sheltering in place in the wilderness, that he “returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee… and… their synagogues (churches) and laid his hands on everyone (at least symbolically) and healed them.” (Luke 4:14) Let us, like Jesus, as we come out of our wilderness, waiting experiences, return to a higher sense of church and to stick with the only real power, the power of the Spirit!

[W:] DENY the **TRICK OF ACCEPTING  “CORRUPT” MINDSETS FROM UNINSPIRED BIBLE PASSAGES THAT CONFLICT WITH “THE INSPIRED WORD OF THE BIBLE.” (S&H 497:3) that “brings to light Truth and its supremacy, universal harmony, the entireness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil.” (citation S3, 293:28)

Recognize that: “Carnal beliefs defraud us.” (SH 263:11)

AFFIRM the “inspired Word of the Bible” in a Christian Science **Treatment that sees man as God’s “image and likeness” (Gen. 1:27) and therefore as “very good” (Gen. 1:31) and acknowledge that “God is of purer eyes than to behold iniquity.” (Habakkuk 1:13/citation B4)

The Bible, being written across a millennium, by individuals of various levels of understanding and insight, not only speaks to all levels of the human condition, but also contains countless contradictions. We see this from its opening two chapters, which have conflicting accounts of creation. Mary Baker Eddy, as a ground-breaking Bible interpreter and theologian, drew a sharp distinction between these opposite accounts and logically and consistently applying the Bible’s own guide to “make the tree good and his fruit good” (Matt. 12:33) and to burn the corrupt tree (the Genesis 2:8-9/citation B7 tree of good commingled with evil) and its corrupt fruit (of sin, disease and death).

Those who put stock in the Genesis 2 account of creation are stuck with a God who knows evil (and therefore is not all good) and cannot prevent it (and therefore is not all powerful). On the other hand, Christian Scientists who put their stock in the Genesis 1 record, go for an all good and all-powerful God who renders evil powerless and unreal, existing only in human imagination. “Evil is unreal because it is a lie, false in every statement.” (S&H 527:19) This makes evil a mis-statement of being, not a state of being. In other words, “… the immortal and perfect model of God’s creation will finally be seen as the only true conception of being.” (S&H 260:8)

AWAKE from the ADAM DREAM to SALVATION from SIN, DISEASE & DEATH!
Cobbey Crisler on Genesis 1 & Genesis 2 (citation B7)

[Cobbey:] “Can we change choices if we have made the wrong ones? Do you find the Bible filled with this choice-making? How does it open, for instance?

“Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 (cit. B7) are clearly a choice, aren’t they? They contradict each other. We really cannot live with both although most of us are undoubtedly trying. The necessity to make a decision, important decision, relates back to how the pioneer Christian made his decision. Whether he himself has that rock beneath him, as we said, before he made any rules.  Or whether he, too, vacillated and was dualistic, and was pulled to and fro, according to the motion of Satan in the Book of Job (Job 1:7; 2:2).

“… Jesus, prior to going to Gethsemane, as you recall, sang hymns [Matthew 26:30], prayed with his disciples [Matthew 26:35, 42, 44] and for them, as well as for those who were to believe on him through the words of his disciples.

“I’m not sure one could point to a more meaningful event in history than when Jesus, about to suffer the cruelty of Gethsemane and Calvary, spends his last moments praying for us whom he had never known physically, for those who believe on his disciples through their words.

“… This Adam-problem is something that is not limited to the discussion in Genesis.  We find it referred to and alluded to throughout the Bible, as if it represents in symbols the human problem.  One Bible commentator in discussing the choice between the Adam-man and the Christ-man, represented by Jesus, indicates that the way these terms are used in the New Testament especially, it looks like the intent is that each one, Adam and Jesus, are representatives of an entirely different human race.  They are completely opposite.  Humanhood following Jesus is ending up at a destination completely opposed to the destination of the Adam followers.  There may be something in humanhood we have barely glimpsed, if at all.

“Jesus found what humanhood could be when the Divine was behind it every step of the way.   There is nothing in Jesus’ humanhood that could stop the Divine from manifesting itself on earth as in heaven.  This may be our decision we’re talking about.

“Jesus refused to allow anything to obstruct the divine will from operating on earth.  Look what he was able to do with his own humanhood as well as with the humanhood of others as a result.  He could take his fragile, one would think, human frame, anatomically speaking, through what was apparently at least the sound barrier, if not the light barrier.  In no way did his body hamper him when he walked above the water.

“He therefore had dominion, obviously, over what we call a law of gravity.  Yet when he subdued gravity through this sense of dominion, gravity had no control over the dominion-man.  Notice he was not like our astronauts, weightless as the result of negating gravity.  He was still in absolute control of every aspect of his being and progressing toward his destination.  He didn’t have to do it step-by-step because we hear that when he set foot in the boat instantly, not only Jesus, but the comprehension of Jesus could embrace his disciples plus boat, and get all of them through what we feel today, technologically would require heat-resistant metal, crash helmets, oxygen masks, or whatever else in order to preserve the human frame, and to get it through such stresses and pressures and tensions.  Jesus was used to the pressure of Gethsemane, the olive press.  He did not fear what flesh could do to him, obviously…

“…If our thesis as presented is accurate, that the implication of Paul’s statement [I Corinthians 15:22/Science & Health 545:31] “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” presents problem and solution, or remedy, then one of the greatest research jobs awaiting all of us is to get back into that problem called Adam which we’re all wrestling with.

“Just make a list of everything you detect that Adam did wrong mentally and physically.  Because, if it is true that Jesus’ mission was to remedy the Adam man and wipe that alternative off the face of man’s consciousness, then everything that Adam did wrong which was upside down Jesus is going to put right side up and prove that man is upright.  Many things may occur to you, for instance in the initial phases of such a list which we could just touch upon.  Adam’s problem occurred in what environment?  The Garden of Eden.  Where did Jesus face down and confront that Adam-problem?  The Garden of Gethsemane.  Is this a coincidence?  Is Gethsemane intended to be the remedy for the problems of Eden in our own thinking?  I love in that context to remember Isaiah’s words [Isaiah 1:29] when he says, “Ye shall be confounded for the gardens ye have chosen.”   Eden, Gethsemane. [W: The fables of Eden at the base of CedarS Time Travelers Trail is overcome by the facts of Gethsemane at the top.]

“Adam’s problem, though, is probably symbolized most graphically by what?  He had been told not to do something, what was it?  “Not to eat of that tree” [Genesis 3:3, citation B8].  Instead he went and did it.  The disobedience, doing one’s own will, would have to be totally remedied right up with the same even greater peak pressure on a humanhood that had just announced to the world that the way to get out of this Adam-mess is to yield to God’s will regardless of the pressure upon you, so [it’s] doing God’s will versus doing one’s own will.

“The tree of knowledge of good and evil.  You know that the New Testament refers several times to the cross as the tree, that they nailed Jesus to the tree [Acts 13:29; 1Peter 2:24].  Interesting symbolism.  The attempt to nail Jesus as if he were one more in the dying race of Adam, to be nailed to death, and that’s the termination and the end of anything that he would offer man radically as salvation.  Jesus could not be nailed on the cross any more than God’s man could be nailed on the cross, and thus his theology was exemplified.

“Do you remember, – just things like this to show you how much fun this work can be as well – part of the curse on Adam [Genesis 3:17,18] was that thorns will be brought forth unto him.  Did Jesus have to face Adam’s thorns on that weekend?  “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread…dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return” [Genesis 3:19].  The grave was the pressure of the dust he was to return to.  There are many others showing the complete reversal of the Adam.  It’s as if the highest sense of mind on earth, which had relinquished its right to mind except by reflection, is turning everything right side up just as we do visually.  That topic is far from being exhausted.  In fact, what can exhaust an infinite reservoir?  It’s one thing about supply in the Bible.  It’s never consumed.  Therefore, there are no consumers…”

GENESIS 1 OR GENESIS 2
By Woodruff Smith

Where did it begin this idea called you?
In Genesis 1, or Genesis 2?
Which one of these concepts
Will prove to be true?
If you know what is what,
Do you know who is who?
In Genesis 1 in the 26th verse
There’s a man with never a taint’ of a curse.
But in Genesis 2 in verse number seven
There’s a dust man conceived…
He’ll never see heaven.

So, it really comes down
To which one you will claim,
What thou see’st thou be’st…
So, what is your name?
There they both stand.
Which one is you?
Is it immortal man one,
Or mortal man two?

If you’re immortal man
You know what you’re worth.
For according to law
You’ll inherit the earth.
But if you’re just a mortal
And made out of dust…
Is there anything to you
That’s worthy of trust?

No, the thing they call man
In Genesis 2
Is the dream of the dreamer.
It never was you.
So, know what you are.
Take your place in the sun,
You’re the immortal man
Of Genesis 1.

TESTIMONY OF HEALING

I gave a testimony one night in our Golden, Colorado church based on the ideas from a poem I really liked, which said, “Which of these men do you think of as you, Genesis One or Genesis Two?”

A couple of weeks later a businessman, not knowing I was behind him, probably, testified that he had heard a rather banal, trite testimony a couple of weeks ago from someone who recited that line, “Which of these men do you think of as you, Genesis One or Genesis Two?” and he thought it was so trivial, so lightweight.

He went to a business meeting in Atlanta, Georgia after that and was in a hotel room in the middle of the night, sound asleep with his wife beside him, when he had a massive heart attack.

He said he wasn’t naive, he knew what was happening, and he knew he was in a life-threatening situation. He was totally helpless, so helpless he could not even cry out to his wife for help, obviously could not call a practitioner, and he said for the first time in his life he felt completely helpless. He tried to repeat the Lord’s Prayer, the 23rd Psalm, the Scientific Statement of Being, but he couldn’t remember them, couldn’t put them together.

He felt totally mentally jumbled and then he recalled a very simplistic statement…”Which of these men do you think of as you, Genesis One or Genesis Two?” and he realized that it wasn’t so banal after all, that if he were a Genesis Two man he would probably not live through the night, but if he were a Genesis One man he could claim his dominion over the “things of the flesh.”

He did it. He said the pain lifted immediately and he felt whole and well. He decided the poem was OK after all.

FIND YOUR WAY TO THE FATHER – ONLY BY FOLLOWING THE MASTER!
Cobbey Crisler on John 14:5, 6 (citation B11)

[Cobbey:] Chapter 14 of John begins with a discussion, a dialogue between Jesus and some of his disciples.

John 14:5, “Thomas asks about the way.”

In John 14:6, Jesus responds, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.”

John 14:8. JB Philip says, “We’ll settle everything right now with you, Master, if you just shew us God,” a minor requirement. Imagine that this is going on the night of Gethsemane. With what Jesus has to look forward to, look at the questions he’s being asked!”
John, the Beloved Disciple,” by B. Cobbey Crisler**

PROVE NOTHING’S IMPOSSIBLE WHEN EVERY LIE is TOTALLY DENIED & EVERY TRUTH OF THE CASE TOTALLY AFFIRMED.  Cobbey Crisler on epilepsy healed in cit. B10/Luke 9:38-43 & Mark 9:17-29 when Jesus handles 1st a parent’s thought:

[Cobbey:] “We have healings throughout Mark which require your study. We have an epileptic child healed in the next few verses, 17 through 29.
Verse 21. Jesus recognizes that the first patient is the father and his thinking. [“and he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.”… ]
Verse 23. He turns and deals with the father, his parental thought. [“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. 24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe: help thou mine unbelief.”]
Verse 25-27. Jesus then deals with the young man.
Verse 29 says, “This kind of healing.” Because the disciples had failed, this healing required two things, “prayer and fasting.” You can say this in another way using two other words: “No” and “Yes” [as Mary Baker Eddy titled one of her works on scientific, mental healing.] Fasting is what we say “no” to and prayer is what we’re affirming. Once again, we see that we are given the rules of healing.”
“What Mark Recorded” by B. Cobbey Crisler**

BONUS:
17th Chapter of Jeremiah, Verse 14, “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed.” There’s Jeremiah’s prayer. “Save me and I shall be saved.” The Anchor Bible
points out that the word “salvation” as used in the Old Testament is often used in terms of a not-guilty verdict in court. Salvation is often used in the Old Testament in terms that we would understand today as a not-guilty verdict in court.

The salvation of man would eventually include a verdict of not-guilty, or innocent. This is, of course, the entire theme of Job, his guilt or innocence.”

REJOICE IN HEALING SHOWING YOUR HEAVEN IDENTITY—innocent, assessable & applicable to all human problems. Cobbey on Luke 10:1, 17-20 (citation B13 + context:

[Cobbey Crisler:] “Chapter 10, “the harvest is great, but there are not many workers out there.” That is what Jesus says in verse 2. It also underscores the need for disciples, and explains why now seventy go out (see verse 1).
… Verse 9 makes it quite clear that now there are not just twelve going out, but seventy whom Jesus expects to leave and come back with every kind of human problem solved through prayer alone.”
“The seventy come back” in verse 17. They are so enthusiastic over the results that they are probably tripping over each other to get to Jesus and tell him. Because they went out in pairs, he has thirty-five pairs coming back with tales of what they’d done.
Imagine any class in any subject being so effective that the entire student body could go out, do such field work, and come back with the evidence and the proof that they’d understood what they were doing, and that the teacher had been such an effective communicator!

Verse 20. Jesus said, “You know what? You are rejoicing for the wrong reason. You think it’s all great with such results out there. And it really is. But the real reason to rejoice is that your names are written in heaven.” That tells us something rather radical about the reason for rejoicing in healing. It has something to do with our identity. … It’s as if our original names and natures have been ratified as the result of healing work on earth. … If our names are written (in heaven), who did the writing? … Man, restored and whole, represents the heavenly model and standard which is the norm for man that God has revealed through Jesus to us. … And if our names are written in heaven, where is heaven? If it’s within, we don’t have to go anywhere. We don’t have to commute to find our identity. … Namely, an identity that is related to the kingdom, not anarchy or disease. It is a government, a comprehension of God and man immediately assessible to us, and applicable to the human problem…
That is so advanced because it’s so simple. What is simple is not received by a state of mind that has become used to the complex. Notice verse 21. It is a prayer of Jesus starting with gratitude, “I thank thee, O Father, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” My own father said to me, “There is your Scriptural authority directly from Jesus that a child should understand Bible symbolism before the scholar.” Childlike thought is receptive to meaning. It will yield. It will trust. It is ready to learn. It doesn’t have so many educated theories to get around.
Once again, we find that access to Jesus’ theology requires a mental state that isn’t childish, but is childlike, receptive and open.”

FOLLOW the RECIPE for FREEDOM as you GIVE a Know-the-Truth TREATMENT!
Cobbey on John 8.32/cit. B19 + notes & quotes from others

[Cobbey Crisler:] John 8:31, 32. “Then Jesus said to those Jews which believed on him, ‘If ye continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed, And ye shall KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.’” (caps added)

[Cobbey:] “Here is the recipe for freedom, “It’s the truth itself that makes you free.”  It is the fact that makes you free. In John 8:44, the devil is defined as a liar [W. a “fake news” distributor] and also a murderer from the beginning. If you analyze that again, the devil has one of two purposes when it enters into the thoughts and lives of man. It is either to deceive us or to kill us or others. That’s the motive prompting the thought, critical or otherwise. Remember, judging righteous judgment eliminates most criticisms, and not judging according to appearance. It [lying “fake news”] either murders or kills our neighbor or ourselves, or its purpose is to deceive, one or the other.”
Book of John, A Walk with the Beloved Disciple,
by B. Cobbey Crisler**

[Warren: Here’s a TREATMENT BONUS— “Know the Truth” Notes taken & typed by Ruth Huff from a Jack Hubbell lecture:]
“KNOW THE TRUTH” means knowing or being conscious of what is already true!

“Mary Baker Eddy was once asked by a reporter, what is a Christian Science treatment?
After a few moments of deep thought, she answered, (in words that Mom posted over her desk)

‘It (Christian Science treatment) is the absolute acknowledgment of present perfection! (Elizabeth Earl Jones Reminiscences).

“If you begin a treatment to improve an imperfect condition, STOP!
You have been mesmerized!

“You are well, before you give the treatment!
Treatment is being conscious of present reality.”

(Notes from a Jack Hubbell, CS, lecture)

“What does it mean to “know the truth?” – To acknowledge it!

Unity of Good 7:20-22 . . . “an acknowledgment of the perfection of the infinite Unseen confers a power nothing else can.”

We can’t know a lie!
You cannot know that 2 + 2 = 5, because it does not! You can only believe it!

We can never know sin, disease or anything that seems inharmonious, because it is just a lying suggestion! We can only be tricked if we believe it!

Where do we learn what is real and what is a lie?

Through THE WORD (the Scriptures and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures)

SH 503:12 Divine Science, the Word of God . . . .”

How did Jesus pray? What was he thinking, what was he knowing that healed so effectively?

“…Jesus, whose humble prayers were deep and conscientious protests of Truth, — of man’s likeness to God and of man’s unity with Truth and Love.” (SH 12:13 Jesus)

What do we treat? How does knowing the truth have any effect? What really needs healing?

* NEVER treat man, never treat a ‘sick’ man

* Always treat the suggestion that man is sick

The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal.
Science and Health, 428:22 (bolding added)

EMBRACE UNDEFILED, SUPREMELY HAPPY WHOLENESS in the HOLY CITY, AND WITHIN YOU!
Cobbey Crisler on Revelation 21:1-4/citation B22) + cit. S26/577

[Cobbey:] “Revelation 21 (and 22) … We’ve seen it in previous Scripture but we find that it is the chosen Scriptural summary, the peak, the ultimate, and Jesus is associated with it. How much purer could Scripture be, coming from God through Jesus to John to us? And John saw that “new heaven and new earth” (Revelation 21:1/intro to cit. B22)

[Warren: Mary Baker Eddy also tells us that “this New Jerusalem…– reached St. John’s vision while yet he tabernacled with mortals.” (SH 576:3). Mary Baker Eddy continues  “This is Scriptural authority for concluding that such a recognition of being is, and has been, possible to men in this present state of existence, — that we can become conscious, here and now, of a cessation of death, sorrow, and pain. This is indeed a foretaste of absolute Christian Science. Take heart, dear sufferer, for this reality of being will surely appear sometime and in some way. There will be no more pain, and all tears will be wiped away. When you read this, remember Jesus’ words, “The kingdom of God is within you.” This spiritual consciousness is therefore a present possibility.” (SH 573:23)

[Cobbey continues:] “John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem. (SH 592:18) We know its origin, coming from God prepared as a bride. Finally, the bride prepared, adorned for her husband. [Verse 2] The tabernacle of God with men, [Revelation 21] Verse 3.
“Verse 4, there is a check-off list in this Holy City. There
are no more tears, no more salty reminders of the sea in our bodies chemically.  We’ve been told there’s “no more sea” in Verse 1.  No more sea, no more tears, no more death, no sorrow, crying or pain, not in this consciousness.  It’s the Holy City.  That also means that it’s whole.  There’s nothing that can fragment it.  The tribes embrace it at the gates.  The restored and regenerated tribes.  The collective idea of you and me working together as chords under the divine principle of a grand music that fills the universe and all eternity….”
