Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for the GOLDEN TEXT

Define “light” with your students. What is it; what are its attributes?
Mark how many times light is referred to in this lesson. Why is that?

What is it about light that is so important?
How does light help us to denounce animal magnetism, error, evil, hypnotism and all other forms of falsehoods?

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Responsive Reading (RR)

How many different words for “darkness” are in these passages? (Ps. 912-16; I John 1:4, 5)
What forms of darkness are your students confronted with in their lives?
How can we respond to that darkness?
What is a refuge? (Ps. 91:2) What other words for “refuge” are in these passages?
What do these words teach us about our relationship to God?

Section 1 PSSTs:

What happens in the first day of Creation? (Genesis 1:3, 4)
What does this say about the nature of light and dark; good and evil, Truth and error?
What can we do each day to honor God’s omnipotence, trust in God’s power, reject any other power?
How secure in God’s power do your students feel?
How can we increase that feeling?

Section 2 PSSTs:

How does error attempt to deceive your students? (cit. S11/234:32)
What does this section teach us about the reality of evil and error?
How can we see through evil to Truth?

When we are faced with error, how can we persist in our love for and obedience to God?

Section 3 PSSTs:

How many times do our senses deceive us?
Think about railroad tracks that appear to converge in the distance, or water that appears on hot surfaces like asphalt or desert sand, or spoons and straws that appear to bend when under water.

How much can we trust mortal, limited reasoning?
How much can we trust our mortal, limited senses?
And then consider how much we can and must trust Truth, Life, Love.
How does trusting in God and relying on divine reasoning help us to see more clearly, as if a light were turned on and dispelled all darkness?

Section 4 PSSTs:

What does it mean for your students to be light in the world?
What does it mean to be children of light? (cit. B14/Eph. 8+)
What qualities do children of light express?
What does it bring to others when we are all expressing light?
How confident are your students that there truly is “no power opposed to God”? (cit. S19/192:19)
What does this section teach us to increase this confidence?

Section 5 PSSTs:

How do your students respond when they are being persecuted or attacked by others?
What is the human response? How can we respond differently? (cit. S29/596:21)

How does Stephen as a Greek-Jewish Christian respond to his Jewish brethren on the Sanhedrin when they turn on him? (cit. B19/Acts 7:59, 60)
How would he be tempted to respond, and why is he able to respond in a much higher manner?

Section 6 PSSTs:

What are the 3 things we are charged to do in this section? (cit. S32/367:17)
How do we do each of these? (“watch, work & pray…that our light radiates”  ‘)
Why are these the three most important activities we can participate in on a daily basis?
How do these three activities help us in our daily lives?
How do they help us to bless others each day?
