Possible Sunday School Topics for the Christian Science Bible Lesson on;

PSST for Golden Text- What is this gift?  How do we receive it?  What does the Holy Ghost want to give to us?

PSST for Responsive Reading – How does this situation look from Joseph's perspective? Consider Joseph's honor…  did it matter to him?  What were consequences for adultery at the time?  What did it require of Joseph not to put Mary in that position?  How must Joseph's mindset have been for him to hear the angel's message?

Discuss prophecy and the importance of its role in Jesus' life.  Why does it matter?

PSST for Section 1 – What a glorious command in citation B1!  [“Arise, shine, for thy light has come… “] Encourage your students to begin each day with this in their hearts.  What kind of difference will this make in their lives?

Who is the head of the government in our lives?  Do your students put God/Christ there?  How does it impact our daily lives to have God or Christ in that position?

Was there prophecy of Jesus being born in a manger?  Where can it be found?  Again consider why prophecy is so important to Jesus' life and experience.  Thinking about the manger—what significance does that hold?  What are the qualities of a manger —why would God's son, the Son of Man, the 'most scientific man that ever trod the globe' be born in a manger?

PSST for Section 2 – What is Christian Science? Is it a system of beliefs? Is it based on belief? Look at the various synonymous terms that Mrs. Eddy uses for this science. Have your students define it in their own words and help them see clearly that this is no system or creed.  Look throughout this lesson for as many definitions of Christian Science as you can find.

Look at the final sentence of citation S6 your students and have them chew on it for a while. Push them to understand what it is saying directly and what the implications of this meaning is.

PSST for Section 3 – Why does the concept of destroying even come up here? What are some worried that Christ will destroy? What is Christ talking about fulfilling?

The marginal heading in citation S14 is "Veritable Success." What is that all about?

PSST for Section 4 – "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  Key and essential both in practice and in purpose – discuss these ideas and why they are important to our practice of Christian Science.

What is our “earthly all” (S15) that we are to lay on the altar?

What is Mrs. Eddy imploring us to 'watch work and pray' about (S16)?  How can we achieve this?

PSST for Section 5 – Prophecy —what is the prophecy offered in Revelation in this section? How does Mrs. Eddy explain this prophecy? Why is prophecy so important to the place of Christian Science in the world? How can you help your students understand this prophecy in the context of Christianity as a whole?

PSST for Section 6 – What are the attributes of a star? How is Christ like a star? The morning star?

What is the unspeakable gift (B22)? What about this gift makes it unspeakable?

What do the four landmarks (S21) represent? Divine Science reaching all corners of the globe?

Be sure your students understand fully the importance of Christian Science as a unifying force in the world (S23).
