[PSST:  Listen quietly to do your job of receiving the SUBSTANCE of angels messages!]

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) by Merrill Boudreaux

for the Christian Science Bible Lesson:  “Substance”

for March 17, 2013

P.S.S.T.  Golden Text – Ask students to list some of God’s great works.  They might choose to start with themselves.

P.S.S.T. – Responsive Reading – Another word for God’s thought might be “idea.”  How many ideas does God have?  How many grains of sand or hairs on heads are there?  Is every idea of God permanent?  And/or, would God ever use something outside of God’s self to form, create, or think an idea?  Trick question, since there is no outside to God or Infinity.

P.S.S.T. – Section 1 – What is the substance of God?  That is, of what is God made?  Use the seven prominent synonyms as mentioned in Science & Health.  Use the two opening questions and answers in the chapter “Recapitulation” in Science and Health (p.465:8-15).  What does God know about the thoughts God thinks? Citation B-1.  Does God also send thoughts to every idea God created, to help inform each of us about our natures?  How do these thoughts come to us?  See definition of “Angels” in S&H 581:4.  What is my job, then?  To be a receiver of angels and their messages.  Quiet listening helps.

P.S.S.T. – Section 2 – Use the Bible story in this section to identify angel messages to Elijah and the widow woman.  What are the results?  Who are sustained by their receptivity?  Who are blessed?  Great role play opportunity.  What would the result have been had Elijah and the widow woman chosen not to listen to the angels?  How were they both metaphysicians? Citation S-9.  Remember, metaphysics means “beyond physics.”

P.S.S.T. – Section 3 – Since man is thought, created by God, it would follow that man is sustained by God. Citation S-15.  What is therefore possible to man? S-16.  What possibility did Jesus demonstrate in citation B-8?  He proved matter has no life, truth, substance, nor power.  See also the Scientific Statement of Being in S&H 468:8-15.

P.S.S.T. – Section 4 – Is there ever a time when God is not with you?  When God’s angels are not available to you? Citation B-10.  Where do you find rest, strength, salvation? B-13, B-15.  Can God, Mind, ever be fatigued or need rest? S-19.  Another name for God is Presence.  Can you ever be without God?

P.S.S.T. – Section 5 – Use what God has given you — that which comprises you — to challenge every suggestion that you are or can be less than that which God knows/thinks, creates, sustains.  Read aloud together all of the Bible passages in this section.  You are reflection.  What does that mean? Citation S-22.  What governs you? Citation S-23 (S&H 162:12-13).

P.S.S.T. – Section 6 – Can you trust the ideas presented in this Bible Lesson? Citations B-20, B-21, B-23.  What is the result for you as man governed by God? S-29.

What does subordination mean?  (“Make submissive to the authority and power of another”)  To whom are you and every idea submissive?  Therefore… Live ye!
