for December 29, 2014 – January 4, 2015

[Bracketed italic links to Mother Church podcasts on The Lord’s Prayer  by Barry Huff were added by his dad, Warren, editor of CedarS Mets, PSSTs…]

P.S.S.T.  Golden Text (GT) – What is it that makes God glorious?  What has God done in your life that is worthy of praise?

P.S.S.T.  Responsive Reading – What are the first two words that begin the Lord’s Prayer?  Our Father.  [Click Abba Father for 2nd of 8 podcasts.] Note how inclusive are those words.  No one is left out.  Note how the prayer is divided.  First, as a prayer of praise in verses 9 & 10 and then as a prayer of petition in verses 10-13.

P.S.S.T.  Section 1 – How many Gods are there?  One is a complete [or whole] number, and is inclusive of you and all mankind.  What can you ask of God that will be denied?  Note also the prayer of praise in citation B3.  Father-Mother is listed as a name for God in citation S1.  What other names for God can you share?  [Click “Hallowed be Thy name” for 3rd of 8 podcasts.]  Look to the Science and Health portion of this section for some ideas.  Read aloud together the spiritual interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer in citation S6.

P.S.S.T.  Section 2 – Where did Jesus tell us the Kingdom of God is found?  (B7)  What did Jesus behold about man as a result of knowing about the Kingdom of God?  (S10) [Click “Thy kingdom come” for 4th of 8 podcasts that covers God’s will being done as well, as covered in Section 3.]

P.S.S.T.  Section 3 – What are some other names for God in citation B8?  Is there more than one supreme will in the universe?  The unity that exists between God and you permits, allows, encourages, demands you to do what?  (S16)  What does the term wrought mean?  How are you working out your relationship with God in your daily practice of life in you and in all beings/ideas?  Can you call upon God for assistance and guidance?  Do you?

P.S.S.T.  Section 4 – What are reasons to praise God in citation B13?  How has God been wonderful in your life?  What are other reasons to praise God in citations B15 and B16?  What does your daily bread look like?  [Click Our daily bread for 5th of 8 podcasts.]  How is daily bread characterized in the S&H portion of this section?  How does Divine Love meet every human need?  In, as, and through you.  That requires you and each of us to be an active participant.  How do you express grace?  This is a good opportunity for students to share experiences where grace was an active presence in their lives.

P.S.S.T.  Section 5 – What blessings of God are listed in citation B17?  Because Jesus knew this, what did he accomplish in citation B19?

Why is forgiveness an active quality of Divine Love?  (S22)

Is there someone you should forgive or from whom you should seek forgiveness?  This is a perfect New Year’s Resolution to not hold a grudge against someone.  What does being linked to God, or united with God, permit you to do?  (S25) [Click Forgive us our debts for the 6th of 8 podcasts.]

P.S.S.T.  Section 6 – What is the prayer of petition in citation B22?  What is the prayer of affirmation in citation B23?  Does God lead man into temptation?  How does God free us from temptation?  [Click Lead us not into temptation for the 7th of 8 podcasts.] Look at citation S30 to define the result when looking to Christian Science rather than being tempted by corporeal sense.  These are powerful words – destroy, support, supplant, replace, silence.  This requires your active participation.

P.S.S.T.  Section 7 – [Click Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for the 8th and last of this TMC Youth series of podcasts. The Lord’s Prayer ends with this doxology, or hymn of praise.]  Look to the Christian Science Hymnal for more songs of praise: 275, 281, 282, 283, among others.  Choose one of these to read aloud to close the Lesson.
