Possible Sunday School Topics by Merrill Boudreaux, CS, for the
Christian Science Bible Lesson: Man – September 1-7, 2014

P.S.S.T.  Golden Text – What does it mean to be holy?  To what are you dedicated or consecrated in your daily life?  In what do you believe?  Read together the question and answer Mrs. Eddy poses in Science & Health 495:25 – 496:27.

P.S.S.T.  Responsive Reading – What is the word of God concerning you?  Or, what is the truth that God knows about you?  Remember we are holy because God is holy.  Read together Hymn 117 from The Christian Science Hymnal.

What does it mean to be faithful?  How does God honor you?  By your being made in God’s image and likeness.

How do you honor God?  By adhering to the precepts or Commandments provided for us by God.

P.S.S.T.  Section 1 – Who made you?  Why did God make you?  Does God need you?  Why?  For God to be fully expressed – forever.  You are an active part of this good reflection.  See Miscellany 165:16.  See there your purpose and what you are able to do.  Beholding this truth you are satisfied (B5).  Read together Hymn 317 in The Christian Science Hymnal.

P.S.S.T.  Section 2 – What are elements of happiness stated in citation B7?  Is it just about getting more stuff?  Or is it about getting a better understanding of who you are?  If one is ignorant about a particular field of study or sport for example, how might one act?  Have you ever tried to explain a subject or sport to someone who had no clue about that subject or sport?  Sometimes individuals are blissful in their ignorance, but what joy comes forth when they understand the subject.  What is the result of ignorance in citation S7?  What are the benefits of understanding the doctrine (teaching) of Christian Science? (S7)  Can you ever be separated from God?  What does being connected to God supply? (S9 and S10)

P.S.S.T.  Section 3 – What has God spoken to us, the children of Israel in citation B10?
What is Mrs. Eddy’s favorite Commandment? (S12)  Which is your favorite of the Ten Commandments?  Why?  Which of those Commandments bring you closer to God?

P.S.S.T.  Section 4 – Read the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12.  To what do the Beatitudes lead you? (S19)  Do you desire health, purity, a better spiritual awareness? (S19)  Are these available and possible for you now, here?  Yes.  Why?  You are the image of God, the image of Love, perfect.  What cannot you do?  How can you use what you know to bless mankind?

P.S.S.T.  Section 5 – Is there any disease that God cannot heal?  All disease stems from the same root, a belief in separation from God.  Read Romans 8:35, 37-39.  Ask students to memorize citation S24.  This is a wonderful prayer treatment to annul the belief of separation and support your understanding of being.  Which is more powerful – material beliefs or the science Jesus taught? (S22)  Here is another great memory opportunity in citation S21.  Can you behold the perfect man and have the same results as Jesus demonstrated?

P.S.S.T.  Section 6 – What is the Christ?  S&H 583:10.  How is God manifested?  In every idea which God creates.  What is the result when Christ appears in your experience? (S26)  What is a key demand in Christian Science? (S27)  This is another great memorization opportunity.  Are you that model of excellence?  Is everyone else also?  Let there be no strife then for we be brethren.  Each one of us is holy; therefore each one of us is happy.  Claim that.  This is your rightful heritage.
