P.S.S.T. Golden Text (GT), Isaiah 59:21: “The Lord says: My people, I promise to give you my Spirit and my message. These will be my gifts to you and your families forever. I, the Lord, have spoken” (Contemporary English Version-CEV).

What is God’s promise to us, Her people, as recorded in the Golden Text?

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading (RR) [Thank God for your reflected talents]

Because of God’s infinite nature, God as spirit must be expressed in infinite variety. How is this variety of gifts, as promised in the GT, stated in the RR?

  • Diversity of gifts
  • Diversity of operations
  • Word of wisdom
  • Word of knowledge
  • Faith
  • healing

These gifts are given regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, social status, bond or free. What are the diverse gifts of Spirit evidenced in your life? You may consider these gifts as talents. That is, it is time and proper to acknowledge how talented you are [by reflection].

P.S.S.T. Section 1 [Claim your divine-likeness gifts as yours forever!]

We are directed to lift up our eyes to behold the talents we have been given. The talents have indeed been given – they are ours by reflection. Therefore, we can never be deprived of or separated from these talents –forever.

P.S.S.T. Section 2 [List spiritual qualities you are made to express.]

God glorifies Herself in you. Spirit is your ancestry, your creator, your keeper, your source of being (citation S5, Science & Health 63:5). What are some of the qualities of Spirit mentioned in citation S7 which you possess? (SH 481:2)

  • Infinity
  • Freedom
  • Harmony
  • Boundless bliss
  • Add others of which you are also aware

P.S.S.T. Section 3 [Apply take-away lessons from past gift-exchanges.]

Citation B8 (Zechariah 4:6) tells us that these talents and gifts come not by our power and might. The nature of a gift is to be given freely and with joy. How do you feel when giving a gift to another person? How do you feel when receiving a gift from another? Now expand that into the feeling God must have when giving a gift to you and upon seeing how you freely welcome and accept the gift.

Read together citation B11 (Psalm 107:8-10, 14). What are your key takeaways in this scriptural passage?

P.S.S.T. Section 4 [Joseph’s gift is for you too as W. proved & related in GEM#6. “Impossibilities never occur.” (245:27) Thank God, it’s for you too!]

Help your students know Joseph’s story [& apply it if they’re ever bullied like Joseph was & as Warren was as he voiced in last week’s GEM#10].
What gifts of the Spirit did Joseph possess in his youth that made his brothers hate him, but that eventually led to his saving them and all the children of Israel from famine? Skim multiple chapters in Genesis to pull the whole story together (Genesis 37 – Genesis 45). What do you think could have happened if Joseph had denied his Spirit-given gifts at any point in this story? Was it really ever possible for Joseph to deny these gifts he reflected?

P.S.S.T. Section 5 [Talk of & follow Jesus sharing his gifts -Section 7 too.]

What does the prayer ask God to do in citation B18 (Psalm 139:1,5,6)? What will God find when She searches you? Can there be anything in you that Spirit doesn’t already know about? Take Jesus Christ for example. What talents or gifts did he possess? How did he use these talents/gifts? See examples in citation B20 (Matthew 8:5-10,13).

Read together Hymn 221/543 from the Christian Science Hymnal (words printed here):

Hymn 543 (or 221):

O Jesus, our dear Master, Your works, now understood, Reveal their full effulgence Through love and brotherhood.

Today Christ's precious Science Your healing power makes plain: With joy may all obey you And cast out sin and pain.

The Christ, eternal manhood, As God's own Son beloved, A tender ever-presence Within each heart is proved.

O God, our Father-Mother, Your name we see expressed By man, who in Your Science Is perfect, holy, blessed.

O Science, God-sent message To tired humanity, You are Love's revelation Of Truth that makes us free.

Your kingdom, God, within us Shows forth Love's sweet control. God's idea, man, rejoices; We know the reign of Soul.

(Christian Science Hymnal, No. 543:1–3)

P.S.S.T. Section 6 [Claim again your nativity & heredity “from above”GEM#11]

What particular insights did Nicodemus have and get in the scripture story in citation B22 (John 3:1-3,6-8)? What impact does our understanding of God have on our lives? Citation S29 (SH 487:27).

Can we ever exhaust or use up the talents/gifts Spirit has provided for our use? Therefore, we need never be afraid to use them for our benefit or the benefit of mankind.

P.S.S.T. Section 7 [A theme-song to share your calling— for God’s glory.]

Jesus was clear about who he was, what he possessed, and what he was called upon to do. Read citation B23 (Isaiah 61:1,3). This is the passage in Isaiah that Jesus read aloud when he was called up to read in the synagogue. Is this a fitting passage for you to read about your own calling – whatever talents you possess?

Read together the command to each of us in citation S32 (SH 37:27):

“Hear these imperative commands: ‘Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect!’ ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature!’ ‘Heal the sick!’

Read together Hymn 12/13 from the Christian Science Hymnal (words printed here):

Hymn 12/13:

Arise ye people, take your stand, Cast out your idols from the land,

Above all doctrine, form or creed Is found the Truth that meets your need. Christ's promise stands: they that believe His works shall do, his power receive.

Go forward then, and as ye preach So let your works confirm your speech,

And prove to all with following sign The Word of God is power divine.

In love and healing ministry Show forth the Truth that makes men free.

O Father-Mother God, whose plan Hath given dominion unto man,

In Thine own image we may see Man pure and upright, whole and free.

And ever through our work shall shine That light whose glory, Lord, is Thine.
