P.S.S.T. Golden Text – Rest assured God is on your side and will assist in your overcoming any resistance to accepting good. Where do you see good in your experience?

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading (RR) – Read together Hymn 566 from the Christian Science Hymnal (printed here):

Hymn 566 (567, 293-295)

Rock of Ages, Truth divine, Be Thy strength forever mine;

Let me rest secure on Thee, Safe above life's raging sea.

Rock of Ages, Truth divine, Be Thy strength forever mine.

Rock of Truth, our fortress strong, Thou our refuge from all wrong,

When from mortal sense I flee, Let me hide myself in Thee.

Rock of Ages, Truth divine, Be Thy strength forever mine.

Christ, the Truth, foundation sure, On this rock we are secure;

Peace is there our life to fill, Cure is there for every ill.

Rock of Ages, Truth divine, Be Thy strength forever mine.

What are key takeaways in the Responsive Reading that affirm God with us – always? Frankly, every passage in the RR. Especially: “My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me” (Psalm 31:15).

P.S.S.T. Section 1 – Affirm Citation S1: Evil is not supreme, good is not helpless;” (Science & Health 207:10).

What does it mean to “walk in the spirit”?

Stay with God, listen to Mind – and follow its leading, let spirit move you, love one another.

What is the impact of the sun on fog or the morning dew? How is this analogy like the impact God has on evil? Does the sun know fog or dew? No, it is just being and knowing what sun is and does. This knowing and doing eliminates any suggestion that there is something unlike itself (Citation S3, SH 480).

What is the conclusion of right reasoning in Citation S5 (SH 492:3)? One fact, spiritual existence.

P.S.S.T. Section 2 – What is the lesson taught by the scripture story of Manasseh in Citation B5 (II Chron 33)? It is never too late to turn to God for guidance, for help, for acknowledgment that God, Spirit, reigns, is supreme.

Read together Citation S11 (SH 390:7). What role do you play in eliminating ignorance of God or ig-nore’-ance of God, of eliminating discord, of seeking and acknowledging harmony? You eliminate it from the only place of suggested appearance, your thinking. Where do you look for the right ideas to bring proper focus to your thinking? Scriptures, Science & Health with Key to the Scriptures, the daily Lesson-Sermon…

P.S.S.T. Section 3 – Read the story of the temptation of Jesus in Citation B8 (Matthew 4). What is the direct counter-fact to temptations of any kind, stated in Citation S17 (SH 495:14)? This is a good memorization opportunity. The story of the temptation would have one believe

  • We can be separated from God, good
  • There is another power other than God, good
  • Devil or evil is real and can tempt us
  • Lies are often more powerful than truths

See also another aid to counter these suggestions in Citation S18 (SH 571:15). How can you know yourself, that is, how can you know what is in your heart, in your thought and whether these thoughts come from God or elsewhere?

  • There is no one other than God
  • There is no elsewhere, nothing outside or beyond God
  • God only supplies good, knowledge, wisdom, victories over evil

P.S.S.T. Section 4 – Does it matter how long one has held to a false belief, a belief in evil, sin, sickness, accident death? Is time a factor in healing? Read Tenet #3 from the Manual of The Mother Church (Manual 15:10):

3. We acknowledge God's forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.

  • Is sickness true?
  • Is error or evil true?
  • Who or what governs man, you?
  • What sustains man, you; gives you life? (Citation S23, SH 103:25)

P.S.S.T. Section 5 – What does Christian Science, or the Science of the Christ, or the Science of God-With-Us, teach or illustrate about who we are and who we follow? See Citations S28 & S29 (SH 259:11, SH 192:21).

  • Perfect Principle and idea
  • Perfect God and perfect man
  • Good influences and governs, our actions
  • We have power, always had it and always will have it. Be not afraid for God is with you.

Read together Hymn 81 from the Christian Science Hymnal (printed here):

Hymn 81

God is with me, gently o'er me Are His wings of mercy spread;

All His way made plain before me, And His glory round me shed.

Safely onward Shall my pilgrim feet be led.

God is with me, and His presence Shall my perfect guidance be,

Till my heart that peace inherit God alone can give to me.

His all-power Helps and heals, and sets me free.

P.S.S.T. Section 6 – Fear not! Read Citation S30, SH 288:3.

Between whom or what is the warfare or battle going on?

Between spiritual sense and the material senses. On what side are you?

Read Citation S32, SH 473:4,8-10. God is now, and ever will be, on your side.
