Because there is such a significant notice of and conversation about the coronavirus internationally, let’s look to this Lesson for assurance of protection, guidance for defense, and love for all mankind with prayers of clarity about the role we play in seeing the light of salvation present now.

P.S.S.T. Golden Text (GT) – What assurances are given in the Golden Text?

  • No more violence
  • No more destruction
  • No more walls to keep people out, but
  • Walls that protect and defend
  • Opportunities to praise our Common Creator

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading (RR) What assurances are given in the Responsive Reading?

  • God’s greatness (goodness) is present – we do not need to search for it
  • Our desires to know more of God and God’s protection is satisfied (provides comfort)
  • We need not fear, sorrow shall be eliminated
  • We are not held in bondage, restrictions (quarantine)
  • We serve only God, our Mind
  • The whole earth is benefitted
  • Who can, shall thwart God’s will and God’s hand stretched out to everyone?
  • There is no barrier to any nation who seeks God’s aid, by whatever name God is called
  • What signs do you have that God is present?

P.S.S.T. Section 1 – What is the promise in Citation B2?

What is the substance of God being poured forth for all of us right now? Citation B1.

Is there a law besides God’s love? Therefore, a “…material basis… is… yielding…” as we look “…away from matter to Mind as the cause of every effect.” This is our standpoint to battle the false beliefs of contagion.

What ideas do your students have that are good and eternal that are their advantage when battling the thoughts of contagion?

P.S.S.T. Section 2 – What is better for us? Citation S5

  • Spiritual evidence or material sense
  • Belief in Truth or belief in error
  • Mortal testimony or spiritual understanding

Read together Hymn 81 from the Christian Science Hymnal (words printed here)

Hymn 81:

God is with me, gently o'er me Are His wings of mercy spread;

All His way made plain before me, And His glory round me shed.

Safely onward Shall my pilgrim feet be led.

God is with me, and His presence Shall my perfect guidance be,

Till my heart that peace inherit God alone can give to me.

His all-power Helps and heals, and sets me free.

P.S.S.T. Section 3 – What does “variableness” mean in Citation B5? Does God vary or change from all good, all power, all knowledge or understanding, all presence?

Review the story of Moses leading the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt to the promised land. What were some of the watershed events during that journey? How was that experience similar to the worldwide beliefs in contagion we are experiencing today? Yet did God abandon the children of Israel? Will God abandon the children of the earth today?

Are there other scripture stories that relate to God’s care and the assurance of God’s ever-presence? Noah, Jonah, Joseph, and all the people under their care. How does each of these three show that often God chooses a reluctant leader to do God’s work? Are you reluctant to pray for the world right now? Do you think you are unworthy or inexperienced? What do you have at hand to aid in your prayer? Citation S9.

You (we) have the substance of thought that is unerring, immutable, immortal, eternal. Call on it to aid your prayer.

P.S.S.T. Section 4 – If you still doubt your ability, see Citation B7. Give ear, hide not thyself. If I try to run (fly) away from the problem, can I ever get away from God, my best and only aid? How is the great red dragon in Citation S10 like the claim of contagion today? Claiming to be strong, covering the earth, acting like a bully (as Amnon did in the Scripture story in Citation B8), practicing deception. How was the woman helped by the earth to cast out the dragon? Read together Citation S14. Remember mortal mind never has a new story or new lie. It only changes the name of the claim, but its basis is always false. Read Citation S18. What is legitimate, what is powerful? What role does Christian Science play in providing aid? What does the word “disguise” mean? How do you think Love will guide you to harmony, healing, understanding? Citation S19.

P.S.S.T. Section 5 – Can you be counted on as one of the seventy in Citation B13? What is God, Love, Mind giving you to tread on serpents, scorpions, dragons, contagion, and by no means get hurt? What is this power? Look to the Science & Health portion of this section for answers:

  • The Science Jesus taught and lived must triumph.… Citation S20
  • The one Mind, God, contains no mortal opinions. Citation S21
  • Good does not create a mind susceptible of causing evil…. Citation S22
  • Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men…. Citation S24
  • Let discord of very name and nature be heard no more…. Citation S25

P.S.S.T. Section 6 – What will you believe? What do you believe? How did Paul show what he believed in Citation B16? One crying for attention or to the power behind the name Jesus Christ? Read together Citation S26. What is the remedy for error of every sort? Finish the phrase: “And ye shall know the truth….” John 8:32. What is the remedy for error of any kind? Citation S26. Never fear speaking, knowing the truth, even when the error seems most formidable. Why? “You command the situation….” Citation S28.

P.S.S.T. Section 7 – God has given to us the power to defeat the serpent, the red dragon, by whatever name. Why? Citation B17.

Read together Hymn 10 from the Christian Science Hymnal (words printed here).

Hymn 10 (& Hymn 411)

All power is given unto our Lord, On Him we place reliance;

With truth from out His sacred word We bid our foes defiance.

With Him we shall prevail, Whatever may assail; He is our shield and tower, Almighty is His power; His kingdom is forever.

Rejoice, ye people, praise His name, His care doth e'er surround us.

His love to error's thralldom came, And from its chains unbound us.

Our Lord is God alone, No other power we own; No other voice we heed,

No other help we need; His kingdom is forever.

O then give thanks to God on high, Who life to all is giving;

The hosts of death before Him fly, In Him we all are living.

Then let us know no fear, Our King is ever near; Our stay and fortress strong, Our strength, our hope, our song; His kingdom is forever.

Our prayer for you and all mankind in Citation S31, “Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit….”

Blessings on you and your great good work in this time of the world’s need of the truth that makes man free.
