Possible Sunday School Topics for the Christian Science Bible Lesson on;

P.S.S.T. Golden Text (G.T.)The Golden Text raises for us the big question for this week:
What is the Rock, strength, and refuge that your students can rely on; the clear Idea from which they cannot be moved?
  (Something to consider, is this a commitment your students have to make, or is this a promise from God regarding what is true about Life?  Who is doing the work to keep us unmoved?)

You can use this one question as a point of exploration while you navigate the entire lesson with your students.

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading (RR) – What does it mean to exalt the Lord?  How can your students keep omnipotent Principle, and unselfed Love at the top of their thought?  As you read explore this lesson, look for those ideas with your students that they can use as Big Rocks – ideas they can lean on unquestioningly. 

P.S.S.T. Section 1 – What do we learn about God’s role in creation?  What did God create? How can we be sure of this?  How does God’s role as creator give us something to stand on – a rock from which we will not be moved?

P.S.S.T. Section 2 – How do we identify “rocks” that are false – that will not support us if we try to stand on them?  (See citation S6 for some specific ideas about this) What are the counter-facts that we can use to replace the counterfeits of material thinking?

Activity Idea: list the various idols of today – things we are tempted to worship but that cannot be in the place of a Big Rock.  Then list what is so tempting about each of them, why do we want to lean on those as rocks.  Finally, list what is faulty about those – why they cannot really be big rocks in our lives.  [Debunk every false idol-rock!]

 P.S.S.T. Section 3 – How can we put Christ’s teaching into action (see citation B13 for a call to action)? What is one of the biggest false rocks in life?  Is it not sensuality – a belief that the senses can bring real, lasting pleasure?  In place of that false rock, what is a Big Rock we can truly lean on? 

P.S.S.T. Section 4 – What Big Rocks did Jesus rely on? (see citation B16)  What does it mean to lay Jesus Christ as our foundation?  Look through the Science and Health citations in this section to discover the origin of the Big Rocks that Jesus demonstrated, and that Mrs. Eddy discovered.

P.S.S.T. Section 5 – What can we expect to happen when we do rely on the Big Rocks we’ve discovered?  Look in Section 5 to find out. With these examples in mind, what can your students expect to happen in their own lives?  What have they seen happen in the past – what are some aspects of their own lives they would like to see impacted by a yielding to the “harmony of the divine Mind”? (S21)

P.S.S.T. Section 6 – How can we respond to error when we are set on God as a rock?  Mortal mind will attempt to put mistakes, accidents, and challenges in front of our thought – look in Section 6 for how we can respond to these errors in thought.

P.S.S.T. Section 7 – Section seven sends us off with a message of the truest BIG ROCK to rely on.  Where does our thinking begin?  Do we begin with a basis founded in matter, or Mind?  What are the results of both? How can we move more towards relying on Mind as primary every day, in every instance?  When we do this, we will truly feel and experience the freedoms promised in the Sermon on the Mount and the teachings of Christian Science!
