Ken Cooper’s “POETIC PRELUDE” brings to life Bible EXAMPLES of
HEARING God’s messages that are always meant to bless YOU & all mankind!
from the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson on “God” for 01-02-2022
- Ken’s poem,“I AM THAT I AM” (from Exodus 3:14/cit. B2 & The Christian Science Sentinel) contains powerful affirmations of infinity.
- Ken’s YouTube poem, “Moses, Dear Moses” tells how all changed when he checked out a burning bush.
- In Ken’s YouTube monologue “Help thou mine unbelief” , the Saviour’s love heals a father’s turmoil.
[Ken writes:] “The Golden Text this week is a fitting summary of all the weekly lessons of last year, and confirms the fundamental fact of God’s Allness for the New. Indeed it is timeless. “All peoples, whoever and wherever you are, turn to and look out for Me, for only through Me can you be redeemed and saved: I am the only God there is, Me alone! There are no other gods, for there can only be One. I am He.” (Combined translations). The moment we admit that “God is infinite”, (Science & Health (SH) citation #6) the whole basis of Christian Science is confirmed. There is nothing else apart from God, and the lesson is beautifully full of this simple Truth.
‘The infinity of God results in the necessary perfection of man and the nothingness of anything which does not reflect fully all that God is: “Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love;” (SH citation #1). These are God’s standards, and represent the completeness of man, what we reflect and express.
My shared sentinel poem “I AM THAT I AM” refers to this as “The Word of God to Moses” (See Bible citation #2/Exodus 3:14)and it contains the following affirmations of infinity:
“Omniscience: Truth knowing its infinitude.
Omnipotence: Truth proving its infinitude.
Omnipresence: Truth, being infinite,
the only reality.”
‘Truth includes every synonym. We have therefore Love knowing, proving and being Love. It can be nothing else, and has to be all we can experience. This is the Truth, and any suggestion otherwise is a lie, a falsity. Life knows, proves and is itself. It shines as man, what we are. There is no other man, no other you. Mind knows only itself. It is the only reality. Mortal mind has never existed. “I am God, and there is none else.” The Golden Fact.
‘The poem concludes that “I AM THAT I AM” is indeed the “Word of God to us all”. We can never be outside the infinity of God, and because The Word is always speaking, we can never be apart from its call and guidance, and our hearing of the Word is always perfectly as it speaks. Inseparable.
‘Hearing what the Word is speaking to us, we too can share the experience of Moses. When we let God direct our paths (RR/Proverbs 3:6) the achievements of Moses are available to us all! The Poem “Moses, Dear Moses” shares his story. There he was, an ordinary day, doing what he did day after day, when he saw a bush aflame in the desert. So what? That can happen. But the bush kept burning. And kept burning. The angel message did not go out. I like to think that the flame was the burning flame of Love, of “… Christian Science, aflame with divine Love.” (SH p. 367:8 Christian), and not destruction, of Life and not death, the same flame that enveloped the three Hebrews, and could cause no harm. Moses responded to God’s love. The Word is always speaking, – that we may respond! And he heard that wonderful declaration that comes to us all, every moment, that God is always declaring: “I am God, and there is none else.”
The poem states:
“I hear His reply “I AM THAT I AM.”
I feel the assurance: with God I can!”
‘This is what Moses proved for all of us, and in his looking back at all he achieved, he had this wonderful conclusion in thinking about God, that “He is the how!” This resonates with the final reference in Section 2/ citation S10: “The God-principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere and nothing apart from Him is present or has power”. (473:7) We do not have any power, but reflect what God is. What power is that!! And look what Moses thus achieved!
‘The understanding of God’s infinite power was expressed by Moses, Elisha, but above all by Jesus. He knew that God is the how. In the monologue “Help thou mine unbelief” , which takes place immediately after the transfiguration, we have a story that we all at some point may have felt, – a yearning to believe, yet overcome with the chronic nature of some disease / situation, or simply the disbelief that a healing is ever possible. In this monologue, the father of a boy, so often overcome by a spirit of evil, has lost his faith, but manages to find it again through Jesus. His mental turmoil is transformed by the compassion of the Saviour, whose gentle touch beautifully transforms his parent thought. He lets go false responsibility. The tender touch of Jesus is given with such authority that when all seems lost, he remains calm, “because I know that he (Jesus) is in control”. Love is always in control. His unbelief had turned into understanding and he sees his boy completely healed, – all the scars of the past eradicated in the demonstration of present perfection and joy. The scars had to go because they have no history. Complete healing is knowing there is nothing needs healing. There is nothing outside present perfection.
‘Jesus was never overwhelmed by the multitudes or by individual emergencies. He was always aware of his Oneness with the Father. Knowing that God is infinite, we know the nothingness of any claim to the contrary. Life is God, and man is His full expression. LOVE, TRUTH, LIFE, IS ALL THAT IS EVER GOING ON, for God is All, “and there is none else”. When we look at God, that’s all there is to see, all that Jesus saw, and what Jesus consistently proved.’
