Ken Cooper’s “POETIC PRELUDE” –
an awesome ANNOUNCEMENT & detailed DENOUNCEMENT of flimsy fables based on the
Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson on “Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced” for 11-28-2021
- The YouTube poem/video, “The sword of the Spirit is the (s)word of God,” takes the verses from Ephesians (Golden Text & Section 5) and presents them as the confirmation of: “Christian Scientists, be a law to yourselves that mental malpractice cannot harm you either when asleep or when awake”. (citation S21/442:30);
- In the YouTube poem/video, “The Balloon,” we have an illustration of the pretend power of evil again completely obliterated!
[Ken writes:] “Let’s look at two contrasting definitions for this week: DENOUNCE: To inform against; to accuse; to condemn, censure, expose as evil, a false report. ANNOUNCE: To publish; to proclaim; to give notice of the readiness / reality of something. Both are important, and the latter is fun!
“Anything ever rejected as evil or wrong should be replaced immediately with what is good and true. This week we see the need for denouncing and announcing, with the latter replacing the former. Ancient and modern necromancy, alias mesmerism and hypnotism, is necessarily denounced because it is wrong. It is exposed and revealed as untrue, evil, empty of threat. From the second part of the Golden Text, it does not matter how grand it would make itself, (principalities, powers, the rulers of darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places,) – the first part of the Golden Text shows where power truly lies: “be strong in the Lord, and in the (all) power of his might…” and what the Lord announces in the Responsive Reading puts paid to any of the false claims presented. When we denounce the so-called presence of evil we can straightway announce the actual presence of God, a presence we can trust in forever! Indeed we have this clear announcement: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder”. Not a child will be born, but recognition / confirmation / announcement that the child, – the true nature of man, is born and is governed by God and nothing else. “Revelation” is not a future promise, but the announcement of present good, the government of One God, for there is none else. (Bible citation #1)
“The poem “The sword of the Spirit is the (s)word of God” takes the verses from Ephesians (Golden Text & Section 5) and presents them as the confirmation of SH Citation #21; “Christian Scientists, be a law to yourselves that mental malpractice cannot harm you either when asleep or when awake”. When we are armed with the Truth we are untouched by error, in the same way that light is untouched by darkness. It is light that destroys darkness, not the other way around! As the poem indicates, the simple rule is never to give error a glance, for that is its wedge and only chance. It ends “Untouched by wrong, you prove ALL RIGHT!” The ALL RIGHT is the beauty of infinite God.
“The apostle defines the whole armour of God in its physical description, but on a purely metaphysical basis the whole armour of God is the combining together of infinite Truth, Life, Love, Soul, Spirit, Mind, Principle, – this is the totality of what God is, and there is nothing else. The sword of the Spirit contains the quality of every synonym, and when we use the sword of the Spirit against the embattlements of evil they cannot stand, and like the walls of Jericho, they fall flat. The powers of evil never had a chance because they never were. The sword of infinite Spirit is always victorious: it is the (S)WORD of God, there from before the beginning as the everlasting NOW of PRESENT PERFECTION.
“The tip of a sword is a tiny point, which represents the power of the sword behind it. This thought is like the tiny pin in the poem “The Balloon”. Here we have an illustration of the pretend power of evil again completely obliterated! The balloon grows and grows, – it becomes so big it becomes overwhelming, pushing one backwards, its power seems too great, and one fears that it may no longer be possible to push it back! The Bible lesson is full of examples of wrong doing taking over: Saul seeking help from witchcraft, Section 2/1st Sam. 28:3-17; Manasseh worshipping Baalim, Section 3/2nd Chron. 33:1-15; David yielding to his base sinful instincts, Section 4/2nd Sam. 11:2-27). But in every case the evil was exposed. It did not matter how great the evil presented, we see the government of God taking over, in God’s own way. The delight is that the response was not to call on the armies of the Lord God, but to humbly know the Truth. THE TINIEST ELEMENT OF TRUTH HAS BEHIND IT THE INCONTESTABLE POWER OF INFINITE TRUTH. The still small voice spoke to each in the way required, the denunciation was complete, and the restoration of God’s government announced and made clear. When we know the truth, all that is required is the smallest pinprick to burst the lie presented: “The bigger it got, the thinner its skin, so I firmly held out a tiny sharp pin!” When faced with any problem, the smallest grain of Truth is sufficient to denounce the lie for the affirmation of Truth destroys any lie. Indeed, the bigger the problem the shakier its foundation. The tiny pin had all the weight and might of Truth behind it, — infinite Truth against nothing. Truth had already won. NOTHING WRONG: ALL RIGHT. That’s the “point” from where to start!”
