P.S.S.T. Golden Text – In the entryway to Dawn Lodge by the drink counter at CedarS Camps, Mrs. Ruth Huff, the Founder of CedarS, placed a sign which was a favorite motto of Mary Baker Eddy’s which she moved with her from house to house. It reads “Do right, fear not”. This is a great memory opportunity and pairs nicely with the Golden Text from this week’s Lesson.

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading – Since God has not given us fear, neither wants us to be afraid of God, what does the Responsive Reading tell us God has given us?

  • Power
  • Love
  • A sound mind
  • Peace
  • Quietness
  • Confidence
  • Strength
  • A song

Think about how you will use these gifts from God in your life this week. When you think about love, how do you feel; with love for your family your pets, your friends, your self?

P.S.S.T. Section 1 – What claims can you make on Love, that’s Love with a capital L, according to this section of the Lesson?

  • Dwell in safety
  • Covered by God
  • Trust
  • He shall direct my paths
  • I will not be afraid
  • I have confidence
  • He will save
  • He (Love) is with me
  • Love is “a very present help in trouble”
  • Love is impartial
  • I am the manifestation or object of Love
  • I can never be lost nor separated from Love

P.S.S.T. Section 2 – Read together the Bible story in citation B6. How was love a protection to Saul and to David? How do the qualities of Love previously identified in the RR and Section 1 apply to this story? Memorize the following from citation S9: “At all times and under all circumstances, overcome evil with good. Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and occasion for a victory over evil.” [See W’s PS#3 for additional application ideas.]

What does citation S10 instruct us how to regard our neighbor?

  • Love our neighbor
  • Let selfishness give place to kindness
  • Bless them that curse us
  • Take up the cross and receive directly the divine power

P.S.S.T. Section 3 – What is the prayer of petition in citation B11? What is God able and willing to do for you as stated in citation B12? Is this grace for you only or does it apply to everyone? What is grace? Patience, meekness, love and good deeds. See Science & Health 4:3-5. Think about how you will use this definition of grace in your life this week. Read together citation S16 as affirmation that grace is yours and can be applied in all aspects of your life with assurance of its outcome. Read together the definition of Heaven in S&H 587:25.

P.S.S.T. Section 4 – Healing is a natural outcome of the study and practice of Christian Science. See this affirmation in citation B16 from Jeremiah 30:17, “I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord;”.

Ask students to share any healing experiences they had or witnessed.

Read together citation S17 as another statement affirming healing as a result of Divine Love ever with us. Can you ever be separated from God, Divine Love?

Read together Hymn 179 from the Christian Science Hymnal (printed below).

P.S.S.T. Section 5 – How important is forgiveness as an expression of Love? Read the example of forgiveness by Jesus in citation B19. Why do you suppose Mary Baker Eddy begins the chapter “Christian Science Practice” in S&H, page 362, with this story of forgiveness? What was the question MBE posed for Christian Scientists on 364:16-31? What does the poor suffering heart need and you are able to give as stated in citation S25? Do you have sympathy for the sufferer? Do you love your fellow man? (S28)

P.S.S.T. Section 6 – Ask students to memorize citation B21: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

When you give to others you are giving of that which has been given to you to share. Your giving never depletes your own supply; it is replenished every moment. Give love, get love.

Hymn 179:

Love one another,—word of revelation; Love frees from error’s thrall,—Love is liberation. Love’s way the Master trod; He that loves shall walk with God. Love is the royal way.

Love knows no evil, neither shade of sadness; Love casts out every fear, lifts the heart to gladness. Love heals our every ill, All the law does love fulfill. Love is our answered prayer.

Love now is dawning over every nation; Showing true brotherhood, publishing salvation, Love bids all discord cease. Conquering hate, enthroning peace, Love, Love alone is power.
