EXPUNGE OLD LIES – & NEW ONES!  DAILY CLAIM TO BE HELD BY GOD’S “TENDER MERCIES!”
These two words and everlasting mercy are woven through the Bible Lesson on “Everlasting Punishment” to show the Bible basis for debunking the false theology of a judgmental and punishing God. It is rationally expounded in the citations from Science and Health and emotional felt and capped by a guitar duet of “tender mercies” Hymn 500 sung at CedarS**.
See Ps. 100:5/Golden Text; Isa. 55:3/Responsive Reading (RR); Ps. 103:17/RR; Ps. 25:6/cit. B4; Ps. 51:1/cit. B5; Ps. 136:1, 5/B10; Ps. 40:11/cit. B11; Ps. 145:9/cit. B19; Ps. 103:4/B23:
Ps. 119:156/cit. B26 plus over 20 more uses of “mercy” or “merciful”

  • “according to your lovingkindness” (AMP, “the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions” (KJV) for Psalm 51:1, 6/citation B2);
  • “Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies…” (Psalm 25:6);
  • crown me “with lovingkindness and tender mercies… unto (my) children’s children” (Ps. 103:4, 15);
  • let “thy tender mercies…quicken me…” (Ps. 119:156);
  • “let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us… and purge away our sins” (Ps. 79:8,9); and,
  • acknowledge “his tender mercies are over all his works… throughout all generations.” (Ps. 145:9,13/cit. B19)

SEE LOVINGKINDNESS DRAWING ALL MANKIND to God & to SATISFYING GOODNESS for SOLUTIONS to WORLD PROBLEMS! Cobbey on Jeremiah 31 (citation B1/ Jer. 31:3+ bonus)

[Cobbey Crisler:] “In Chapter 31, which is Jeremiah’s greatest chapter, he predicts the new covenant will come. He defines it. In Verse 3 he shows that the new covenant is definitely based on the comprehension of God as love. It’s that very “lovingkindness” that will draw all mankind to God for the solution of the world problems.”[to make “their soul (spiritual sense) as a watered garden.” (Jer. 31:12)

Jeremiah 31:14 “… my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord.”

Jeremiah 31:33, 34 “… this shall be the covenant that I make… I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts… for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest…”

[W:] DENY the TRICK OF ACCEPTING  “CORRUPT” MINDSETS FROM UNINSPIRED BIBLE PASSAGES THAT CONFLICT WITH “THE INSPIRED WORD OF THE BIBLE.” (S&H 497:3) that “brings to light Truth and its supremacy, universal harmony, the entireness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil.”
(Science & Health, 293:28)

Recognize that: “Carnal beliefs defraud us.” (S&H 263:11)

AFFIRM the “inspired Word of the Bible” in a Christian Science **Treatment that sees man as God’s “image and likeness” (Gen. 1:27) and therefore as “very good” (Gen. 1:31) and acknowledge that “God is of purer eyes than to behold iniquity.” (Habakkuk 1:13/citation B3 and cit. S3/357:4)

The Bible, being written across a millennium, by individuals of various levels of understanding and insight, not only speaks to all levels of the human condition, but also contains countless contradictions. We see this from its opening two chapters, which have conflicting accounts of creation. Mary Baker Eddy, as a ground-breaking Bible interpreter and theologian, drew a sharp distinction between these opposite accounts and logically and consistently applying the Bible’s own guide to “make the tree good and his fruit good” (Matt. 12:33) and to burn the corrupt tree (the Genesis 2:8-9 tree of good commingled with evil) and its corrupt fruit (of sin, disease and death).

Those who put stock in the Genesis 2 account of creation are stuck with a God who knows evil (and therefore is not all good) and cannot prevent it (and therefore is not all powerful). On the other hand, Christian Scientists who put their stock in the Genesis 1 record, go for an all good and all-powerful God who renders evil powerless and unreal, existing only in human imagination. “Evil is unreal because it is a lie, false in every statement.” (S&H 527:19) This makes evil a mis-statement of being, not a state of being. In other words, “… the immortal and perfect model of God’s creation will finally be seen as the only true conception of being.” (S&H 260:8)

BE FORGIVEN as YOU NO LONGER BELIEVE SIN to be PLEASURABLE & STOP IT!  Evolution of the THIRD TENET  (citation S18/497:9)

 (Note: The third tenet first appeared in the 1887 tenets, as part of the second tenet.)

Current edition
3.  We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal.  But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.

 1887 “Tenets to be Signed by those Uniting …”
Second. — We acknowledge one Father, Son and Holy Ghost, — one God, the brotherhood of man, and Divine Science.  And the forgiveness of sin, which is the destruction of sin.  And the atonement of Christ, which is the efficacy of Truth and Life.  And the way of salvation marked out by Jesus, which is healing the sick, casting out devils [evils], and raising the dead, — uplifting a dead faith into Life and Love.

1892 (from “Church Tenets and Rules”) –
2.  We acknowledge and adore one Supreme God.  We acknowledge His Son, the Holy Ghost, and man in His image and likeness.  We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin, in the destruction of sin, and His present and future punishment of “whatsoever worketh abomination or maketh a lie.”  We acknowledge the atonement of Christ, as the efficacy of Truth and Love.  And the way of Salvation as demonstrated by Jesus casting out evils, healing the sick, and raising the dead, — resurrecting a dead faith to seize the great possibilities and living energies of the Divine Life.

1893 (from “Church Tenets and Rules”)

  1. We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin, in the destruction of sin; and His punishment of “whatsoever worketh abomination or maketh a lie.” We acknowledge the atonement as the efficacy and evidence of Divine Love, of man’s unity with God, and of the great merits of the Way-shower.

JESUS SHARES HIS SABBATH HEALING THEOLOGY in which “Satan & disease are linked, and not God as the cause of loss, or pain, or sickness” or of “everlasting punishment”
Cobbey on Luke 13:11-16 where Jesus heals a bent-over woman like in Luke 14:1-4/cit. B22 where he heals a man with the dropsy, that Cobbey doesn’t feature in his Luke talk
:

[In a similar Sabbath healing objected to by lawyers & Pharisees in Luke 13:10-17 Cobbey Crisler comments:] “Verses 10 through 17 are a healing found only in Luke.
(Verse 11) A woman with a spinal difficulty is in a synagogue Notice that Luke doesn’t say she has an infirmity.  Luke, who is reputed to be a physician, doesn’t even diagnose it as an infirmity, but as a “spirit of an infirmity,” a concept, a spirit, a thought.  “She was bowed together.  She couldn’t lift up herself.”

“Verse 12. Jesus comes and announces to womanhood something that could be applicable in many ways, not just this one time. “Woman, you are free from your infirmity.  Verse 13.  “She’s made straight and glorifies God.”

“Verse 14.  Incredible, “the ruler of the synagogue” in which this grand healing and correction of a human problem occurred “answered with indignation”.

“Jesus’ explanation about the cause of disease is in Verse 16.  No longer should there be any room in Christian thought that disease stems from thought or is God’s will when Jesus attributes it to anything that would oppose God. Only what would oppose God would impose something on man that God Himself never created in His whole man.  Is that a new theology?  Satan and disease linked, and not God as the cause of loss, or pain, or sickness

“Because if it is, he defines Satan as a liar as Jesus does in John (8:44).  Satan has bound this woman with an infirmity that has her bent over, and has accomplished this for eighteen years.  (Luke 13:16)  And “Satan is a liar and the father of it.”  Satan’s work must be lies as well.  If they are they can be corrected mentally, by a full recognition of what is true.  Notice that Satan does the binding.  Jesus said (John 8:32) “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

“It’s a contest between the truth and the lie about God and His theology, about man, about woman, about children and about disease.  If Satan is a liar, he will never change his character.  Our idea of God may have gone haywire, but God has not moved.”
Book of Luke: Luke the Researcher by B. Cobbey Crisler

IN EVERYTHING CONCEDE THAT ALL ABILITY COMES FROM GOD, NOT YOU!
A CedarS app: Pause to get up waterskiing, as if you were getting up to testify.

Mary Baker Eddy has given CedarS a favorite met for water-skiing.  In citation S28 she says: “Beholding the infinite tasks of Truth, we pause, – wait on God. Then we push onward, until boundless thought walks enraptured and conception unconfined is winged to reach the divine glory.” (cit. S31/323:9)

After saying “Hit it!” for the ski boat to start pulling you, it seems natural for most beginners to lean forward right away, as if to get up “on their own.” But, this always causes quick nose-dives. A better method is to PAUSE, waiting to acknowledge the boat, or really God, as the true power of the event, able to pull us up and through it.  God precedes and PRE-SERVES us – and we express such dominion that we almost feel able to walk on the water. (A successful pausing posture for skiers to mimic is that of a testifier getting halfway up out of their seat and pausing for a few seconds before proceeding, because another testifier got up at the same time.)

In like manner, when we realize that life is about God, about Love, and not about us (as physical beings) or because of us (as sexual beings), we are free to merely reflect, instead of originate, the “incontrovertible” perfection of man AS A SPIRITUAL BEING, as the “image, reflection, of God, . . neither inverted” (‘reversed in position, order, or relationship’) “nor subverted,” (‘overturned from the foundation: RUINED: perverted or corrupted by an undermining of morals, allegiance, or faith’) “but upright and Godlike.” (S&H 200:19, with Merriam Webster’s definitions in parenthesis)
