ANSWER THE CALL TO SOLVE ALL RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS AND ALL CHURCH & HEALTH PROBLEMS!
Cobbey Crisler on Ps. 67:
2 (cit. B1) & prelude) & “saving health among all nations…and verse 5 “all the people…” “working together for good” (Romans 8:28)

Verse 2 of Psalm 67 (cit. B1) is the prophecy that God’sway will be known upon earth,”

 “Thy saving health among” what?  A limited number?  All nations.”  No wonder the Bible could not close without that magnificent reminder that the leaves of the tree were not just for healing individuals, but for all nations. The medicine for international discord is on that tree.

“Just as it is for our own relationship problems.  What’s a relationship problem [other] than a disease? Something’s not relating in our body.  Look to our thought.  Have we left relationship problems unsolved?  Do you know when Jesus would not accept worship from his Christian followers when they (we) bring a gift to the altar?  If you remember ought that you have against your brother or ‘vice versa,’ don’t even bother to give your gift in the environment of church.

“Church stands for healed relationships.  No relationship problems.  All things working together for good.  [Jesus said Leave your gift behind.  It’s imperfect.  It’s incomplete.  Go solve the relationship problem with your brother first, then bring your gift to church.  That shows that healed relationship problems are the only satisfactory gift to church endorsed by the founder of the Christian Church.”

“Leaves of the Tree: Prescriptions from Psalms,” by B. Cobbey Crisler

[Warren’s PS: Verse 5 and 6 of Psalms 67:
5 “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.”

[W: Notice again, that verse 5 features the collective/church nature of salvation. It’s only when ALL the people praise God, that the earth will yield her increase and receive God’s blessing!]

BE ALL-IN FOR GOD AS YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY SING HYMN 499
(as inspired by this week’s citation B2, Isaiah 45:6, 22)
Written and composed by DESIREE GOYETTE, CedarS staff & parent

I am the Lord, there is none else;
There is no God beside Me.
I girded thee, I girded thee,
Though thou hast not even known Me.
But know that from the rising sun
To the west there is none beside Me,
For I am the Lord, there is none else;
There is no God beside Me.

I am the Truth, there is none else;
There is no Truth beside Me.
Infinite light, bountiful, bright,
Is ever present to guide thee.
Beloved and free, eternally,
Perfect peace and joy I provide thee,
For I am the Lord, there is none else;
There is no God beside Me.

Innocent one, sinless and pure,
Nothing can ever divide thee.
Governed by Love, you are secure;
I am forever beside thee.
So rest and know wher-e’er you go,
Home and heaven cannot be denied thee,
For I am the Lord, there is none else;
There is no God beside Me.

DISCOVER THE INDIVISIBLE NATURE OF GOD’S CREATION from the end of Genesis 1 (citation B5) in notes from Cobbey Crisler talks as transcribed by Warren):

[Cobbey said:] “Searching the scriptures does require scuba diving or at least snorkeling because there’s a need for both clear vision and inspiration.
Verse 26 Here in a book noted for its monotheism we find plural words relative to God. (“Let US make man in OUR likeness…”) Father-Mother (F-M) must be together indivisibly or we have more than one God.  If there’s indivisibility in the original there must be indivisibility in the product.

Verse 27.  To have Male-Female (M-F) in the product means that it’s in the original.
On IMAGE, Clemet of Alexandria wrote: “In our view, image of God is not an object of sense, but a mental object, perceived not by the senses, but by the mind.”  But in Genesis 2:7 the mental model is dropped and in the material account of creation God forms man out of dust—the very OPPOSITE view.

This mimics the opposite view of male and female that is widely promoted in which sex promises us all satisfaction in physical unity—but does it deliver?  The very definition of sex is division, not indivisibility.  “The sensualist’s affections… and pleasures” would put one through lots of fitful, mental contortions that Mary Baker Eddy describes as “imaginary, whimsical, and unreal” (Science and Health, 241:8).
(Transcribed from notes taken by Warren Huff during several Cobbey Crisler talks from the margins of W’s Bible.)

TO PLEASE GOD, GIVE YOUR ATTENTION TO WHAT’S SPIRITUAL, NOT TO THE FLESH!

Cobbey Crisler & Mary Baker Eddy on cit. B8, Romans 8:5-9 (following Romans 8:1, 2 “There is now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”)

[Cobbey:] “Remember the consistency of the Scripture. This is what turns us into students.  The consistency of the Scripture would force us to study in depth how we please God.  Here is ‘My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.’  How do we please God? Do you remember any particular Scriptural statements on that?… One of the things that Paul says about it in Romans 8:8 is, ‘They that are in the flesh (they that are earthly minded, who obey the lower nature) cannot please God.’ “
“What Mark Recorded,”
by B. Cobbey Crisler**

 [Warren again: The preceding verses, Romans 8:5-7/cit. B8, with other translations shed more light on the challenge of earthly-minded body worship that seems prevalent today in obsessions with fitness, diet, revealing “selfies”…  (Verse 5) “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”  (“People who are controlled by the physical, think of what is physical: and people who are controlled by the spiritual, think of—give their attention to—what is spiritual.” Goodspeed (Verse 6) “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”  (“But to set the mind on the flesh brings death, whereas to set the mind on the Spirit brings life and peace.” The New Testament: A New Translation (Olaf M. Norlie)

These passages and many more from Mary Baker Eddy have helped heal body-worship and lots of resulting ills and issues: “Paul said, ‘Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.’ Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man’s finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.”  (S&H 223:2)

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.” (S&H 468:9)

These ideas from Miscellaneous Writings describe the form, color, light, and beauty of our world being loved promises and representatives “of the beauty, grandeur, and glory of the immortal Mind.” (Mis. 87)  “My sense of the beauty of the universe is, that beauty typifies holiness, and is something to be desired.  Earth is more spiritually beautiful to my gaze now than when it was more earthly to the eyes of Eve. The pleasant sensations of human belief, of form and color, must be spiritualized, until we gain the glorified sense of substance as in the new heaven and earth, the harmony of body and Mind…

“Even the human conception of beauty, grandeur, and utility is something that defies a sneer. It is more than imagination. It is next to divine beauty and the grandeur of Spirit. It lives with our earth-life, and is the subjective state of high thoughts. The atmosphere of mortal mind constitutes our mortal environment. What mortals hear, see, feel, taste, smell, constitutes their present earth and heaven: but we must grow out of even this pleasing thralldom, and find wings to reach the glory of supersensible Life; then we shall soar above, as the bird in the clear ether of the blue temporal sky.

“To take all earth’s beauty into one gulp of vacuity and label beauty nothing, is ignorantly to caricature God’s creation, which is unjust to human sense and to the divine realism. In our immature sense of spiritual things, let us say of the beauties of the sensuous universe: ‘I love your promise; and shall know, some time, the spiritual reality and substance of form, light,
and color, of what I now through you discern dimly; and knowing this, I shall be satisfied. Matter is a frail conception of mortal mind; and mortal mind is a poorer representative of the beauty, grandeur, and glory of the immortal Mind.’”

86:14- 87:14)]

DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO BRING A FRIEND TO CHRIST’S FORGIVENESS & GOOD CHEER!
[W. Luke 5:18-25, citation B13 has the same healing described in Matthew 9:2-8, except Luke records how the paralyzed man’s friends got him through the crowd by tearing off the roof & lowering him to Jesus to experience this remarkable healing. See “The Man Sick of the Palsy”]

[Cobbey Crisler:] “Matthew 9, Verse 2: ‘We have a man in bed with the palsy.” Can you imagine Jesus going by a man who had been that long without moving and telling him to “be of good cheer”? But there’s nothing Jesus said that he didn’t discern was needed. What that man needed, more than physical movement, was to be of good cheer. Jesus said, “Thy sins be forgiven thee.” Jesus knew at a glance the whole history of a case.”
(Verse 3). The scribes say, “This man blasphemes.” In order to get the healing, he has to eliminate the theological obstruction to healing first.
(Verse 5). He says, “What is easier? To say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?”
(Verse 6). “Because the Son of man does have power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy), Arise, take up thy bed, and he goes.”

STRIVE TO “TOUCH THE FRINGES OF ETERNITY” (Hymn 64:3) TO FIND THE PERFECT WHOLENESS WITHIN YOU!
Cobbey Crisler on an issue of blood healing in Matt. 9:20-22 (cit. B17), Mark 5:25-42 & Luke 8:41

[Cobbey:] “A woman, hemorrhaging 12 years, was healed by touching the “wings” of Jesus’ garment.  (Cobbey Crisler (CC) on the version in Luke 8:41) “The woman… is at the absolute desperate end of a rope. Here we find receptivity. Blessed are those are in this state. Happy are those because this state of mind can be changed. “This radical change of thought was in the presence of the Christ-correction that Jesus was exercising in the mental realm. It’s going to be sufficient and the woman feels that it will help her. She’s lost all her money on physicians. [No health insurance…] Mark even tells us that she’s worse because of that choice. [Mark 5:26] All she does is touch the border of his garment. The issue of blood, the continuous hemorrhaging, had occurred for twelve years, had kept her out of the temple, kept her out of worship and made her as unclean as the lepers, …

(CC on version in Mark 5:34) Verse 34. Jesus calls the woman, “Daughter” … Jesus is using daughter in an entirely new way… The woman’s problem is blood. He even lifts the term “daughter” out of a blood relationship and defines a divine relationship… The dignity of womanhood is demonstrated.”
(CC on version in Luke 8:48) “Daughter, be of good comfort” (Verse 48). Look at how he’s addressing the thought of that woman. Not only the precious relationship to God, but the comfort. She hasn’t experienced that in twelve years. She’d lost all her money. She was about to be thrown on the society. There was nowhere to go when you were thrown on society. That may have happened to the woman who had been a sinner. Prostitution was the only open career for many women when they were simply thrown out and discarded from normal humanity…
“Jesus refuses to allow that woman to walk away from the scene thinking that physical contact with his robe had anything to do with the healing. He says, again, “Your faith hath made you whole.” The word “whole” and the word “heal” in Anglo-Saxon have the identical root. It implies that disease is something less than wholeness, that it is a fragmentation of our being. Healing is the condition of being made whole.”
“What Mark Recorded” and “Luke the Researcher,” both by B. Cobbey Crisler**

Warren’s ADDED BACKGROUND NOTE, THAT RELATES to APPLYING the 10 Commandments to each healing:
In Numbers 15:38-40, God tells Moses to have Hebrew men attach fringes to the border, or wings, of their prayer shawl garments to remind them to abide by God’s Ten Commandments and to ‘be holy unto your God’ (Numbers 15:40). The woman healed of her 12-year issue was rewarded for exercising her faith that Christ Jesus was fulfilling this prophesy in Malachi: “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; (Mal. 4:2). Many others in Jesus day were also rewarded for exercising their faith in Jesus being the fulfillment of the scriptural promise of the healing power connected to the keeping of God’s law represented by the 10 Commandment fringes on the borders of his garment… Mark 6:56 records of Christ Jesus’ healing that “whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.” (or “perfectly whole” in the account in Matthew 14:36) Here’s to perfect wholeness for you in your faithfully following of the science of the Christ and in fulfilling God’s laws.

APPLY “HIGHER-MATH” DIVINE EQUATIONS from OUR TEXTBOOK to YOURSELF & to ALL!

One-line, word equations in Science & Health (SH) are “textbook” illustrations of the “Transitive Property of Equality” (www.mathwords.com)  (See page 470:23, 481:3, 477:26 and 249:31)

Let’s “do the math”— the Higher Math – with simple, word-equation sentences from Science & Health.
On SH p. 470:23, citation S22, the first word-equation sentence states:
Man (A) is (=) the expression of God’s being.” (B)

On SH p. 481:23, the second word-equation sentence states:
God’s being (B) is (=) infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.” (C)

 By the Transitive Property of Equality: If A = B and B = C, then A = C

So, “Man (A) or YOU (a) is (=) the expression of infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.” (C)

Therefore, You (a), like the “Energizer Bunny,” express the synonyms for Infinity including: inexhaustibility, eternity, limitlessness, immeasurability, perpetuity  (See https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/rodule )

Therefore, You (a), like the Statue of Liberty, express the synonyms for freedom including: opportunity, power, ability, exemption, flexibility, immunity, privilege, right, discretion, facility, leeway, liberty, prerogative, range, scope, unrestraint, carte blanche, elbowroom, free rein, full play, full swing, plenty of rope

Therefore, You (a),  like a Band, Chorus, Cabin or Family member, express the synonyms for harmony including: cooperation, friendship, consistency, good will,  kinship, peace, rapport, tranquility, unanimity, understanding, unity, accord, amicability, compatibility, concord, like-mindedness

Therefore, You (a),  like a Happy Camper and Stress-free Reflection, express the synonyms for boundless bliss including: unchangeable blessedness, inexhaustible happiness, unlimited  gladness, untold joy…

The reign of “infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss” rules out of you all their opposites (antonyms) of limitation; restraint, restriction, slavery; Inharmony, Strife, disagreement, discord, fighting; depression, sadness, sorrow, unhappiness, grief, upset

SEE PETER’S FOUNDATIONAL ROLE IN CHURCH IN DECLARING JESUS TO BE THE CHRIST –
Cobbey on cit. B19, Matt. 16:13-19+
& cits. S24, S25 & S27, p. 136-138
Plus, see a Peter declaration & inspiration monologue,
“Thou Art The Christ”

[Cobbey”] Verse 13 of Matthew 16 has a very important question that Jesus raises himself. He says, Whom do men say that I, the Son of man, am?” Do you think he was interested in the answer? He wouldn’t have raised the question otherwise.

(Verse 14).  He gets the answer right away. They all say he’s some old prophet reincarnated. You can almost take your choice of prophets.

(Verse 15). Putting aside the general point of view, the average point of view, he says. “But whom do you, my immediate students, say that I am?”

(Verse 16). Peter, once again, raises his hand, and says, “You are the Chris the Son of the living God.”

Remember what that would mean to a first century Jew. You are the Christ.”  The Christ was the Greek translation of the Hebrew word Messiah. “You are the Messiah.”  Where do you find the

Messiah? In the Old Testament. “You are the Old Testament prophesied Messiah.” Was Jesus pleased with that answer? Yes.

(Verse 17).”He said, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona.” He says two specific things. One, “That he didn’t get that because a human had given it to him. He had gotten it directly from God.” Jesus considered that he was prophesied about in Scripture.

(Verse 18). The second point is “that on that rock he would build his church.” It is interesting the use of the two Greek words for “rock” there. Petros in Greek is “rock.” But it’s not the real Greek word for “rock.” It’s kind of a nickname. The Greek word is petra which is feminine. Petros is masculine. It shows that the church is founded on petra which is the bedrock and it has a feminine context.  Petros, Peter, is like a chip off the rock.  Petros in Greek is almost the equivalent of “Rocky” in English. It’s a nickname. The church is founded on the bedrock, or petra. What bedrock is he talking about?

Peter has just said, that he has recognized that Jesus was prophesied in the Old Testament. Is that important to the church? Because this is the first time Jesus ever mentions the word “church.” He was probably waiting until the receptivity among his hearers warranted its mention. That receptivity would not be proved until whatever is necessary to be seen was introduced into the conversation. Peter apparently brings in that necessary ingredient by saying, “You are the prophesied Messiah.” In effect, you are not a temporary phenomenon. You were appointed by God to do your job.

[Bonus beyond the end of citation B19:] “But what exactly does Peter mean by “your job?” Every Jewish child was brought up on the Scriptures. Brought up to consider that the Messiah was to come. But what kind of Messiah? What kind of Messiah did they expect?

The Jews expected a king, a political leader. How about a Messiah who would suffer and end up on a cross? I think about as accurate as we can be on the subject from this vantage point in the twentieth century is to give you an example. For instance, we even have modem Jewish scholars today writing things like this. “In Jewish Messianic thought of the Targum (a book or division of the Old Testament in Aramaic), there is no room whatsoever for a suffering and dying Messiah.”

The Jewish Encyclopaedia reads on this same subject, “The Messiah was expected to attain for Israel the idyllic blessings of the prophet. He was to defeat the enemies of Israel, restore the people to the land, reconcile them with God, and introduce a period of spiritual and physical bliss. He was to be prophet, warrior, judge, king, and teacher of Torah (the Pentateuch). The early sources do not mention a suffering Messiah. How did Jesus look on the cross to a Jewish nation that had been brought up to regard a Messiah who would be victorious over everything, not be crucified as a criminal.”

So, you can see what Jesus was faced with on the cross. That was a pretty lonely position, among other things. Understanding who Jesus was to become is the one obstacle between Jesus and the formation of his church. So, for the first time, when Peter says, “You’re the Messiah,” it looks good as far as the progress of the church is concerned. But, let’s analyze what goes on and discover what Peter meant by that.

(Verse 21). Notice, right after Peter says, “You’re the Messiah,” Jesus tells his disciples for the first time what? “That he must go unto Jerusalem, suffer, be killed, and be raised again the third day.”

How did that look for what they had been brought up to regard as the Messianic fulfillment?

(Verse 22). Not very good, not even to Peter. “Peter rebuked Jesus and said, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.”

Peter has just taken a good portion of Scriptural prophecy and run the vacuum cleaner over it. What did Jesus have to say?

(Verse 23). Here’s the same man that had said (in Matthew 16:18) “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church.” now saying, “You are an offence unto me: Get thee behind me, Satan, for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” That’s the very opposite of what he just said before.

It’s what Peter said that represented the rock upon which the church would be built in the first instance. It’s what Peter said in the second instance that was Satan’s attempt to distort and discount Scriptural prophecy.

So, perhaps, the greatest threat facing the church is the attempt to distort the role of its founder in Scriptural prophecy and the role of the church itself in the fulfillment of Scriptural prophesy.  Because when Jesus says to Peter, “Thou art an offence unto me,” that Greek word “offence” is skandalon, or our scandal. But it also has a meaning in Greek of “stumbling block.” Do you see the play on words again? Peter was called petros, which was identified with the rock, only so long as he identified himself with the rock. When he did not, the rock became a stumbling block instead.”
