“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” -Psalms 133:1 (NIV)
Unity
Each summer our CedarS family explores an uplifting theme together. This summer’s theme is “unity.” Unity is about harmony and togetherness, about feeling a deep connection to one another and finding love and trust even when it’s not easy to do. We find unity as we unite around goodness, kindness, joy, and the spirit of giving. Unity doesn’t mean that we are the same as everyone else. It means recognizing that we are all connected to a central source of divine goodness.
We invite you to explore the many reference to unity, oneness, and being of one accord:
- 1,712 references in the Bible
- 1,873 references in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy
- 127 references in the Christian Science Hymnal
- over 215,000 references in JSH Online
Search Terms: unity, unite, unify, one, oneness, of one accord
Opposites: division, divisible, strife, duality, conflict/conflicting, antagonism, disagreement, denial, discord, refusal, separation, fighting, isolation, loneliness…
Questions to Ponder:
What does it mean in our own lives that there is only one Mind? Or that good itself is indivisible? That we don’t have to compete with each other for a limited pot of good? That we can see the fullness of God’s goodness expressed equally – though uniquely – in ourselves and in others?
“We are not divided, all one body we”
(HYMN 264 AND I CORINTHIANS 12)
This theme will give us a great launching point for experiencing a greater sense of unity and harmony with our Creator, with all of God’s creation, within cabins and programs, with our true self, with the masculine and feminine, and with church.
