Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for the GOLDEN TEXT

What is the promise of being Christ Jesus’ friend? (John 15:15)

PSSTs for the RESPONSIVE READING (RR):

What does learning about Christ Jesus bring into our lives?  (Eph. 1:2 “Grace…” / Phil. 4:23 “The grace of…” )

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Section 1:

What does John the Baptist say to Jesus when he comes to him? (Matt. 3:14 / citation B2)
What can we learn from John’s behavior?
Does he persist in his humility?
What can we learn from Jesus’ command? (“Suffer it to be so now…” Matt. 3:15 / citation B2)
What must we suffer to be so now, and why?

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Section 2:

What does it mean to be meek?  (Matthew 5:5/cit. B4)
What does it mean to be hunger & thirst for righteousness? (Matthew 5:6/cit. B4)
What does it mean to be pure of heart? (Matthew 5:8/cit. B4)

Apply more of each Beatitude in an audio series available by clicking it and/or the other Beatitude from a pick-list on Christian Science.com HERE.
Why is it important to be meek and pure of heart?
What is the impact on our own lives and the lives of those around us?

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Section 3:

What is the central lesson of the loaves and fishes example? (Matt. 14:14-21/cit. B6) See under Download at the bottom of CedarS online PSSTs a picture of a fun T-shirt slogan: “Love is like 5 loaves and 2 fish. Always too little until you start giving it away.”
What is an unexpected insight that your students can pick up on?
What is a new way to apply this example to our daily lives?

Activity: Lighting a candle – have your students think about what it takes to light a candle. Then have them imagine taking that candle to light another candle. What is the impact?
Does the original candle suffer for giving its light/heat to another?
And what happens if a lot of candles are lit from one candle?

Have your students reflect on this for about 90 seconds and then share their thinking.
How does this relate to the infinite supply?

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Section 4:

What happens when Jesus says the damsel is simply sleeping? (Mark 5:39, 40 /cit. B9)
How does Jesus respond? (Mark 5:40, 41 /cit. B9) Why is his response critical?
How can we have the same response when we are seeking to heal something in our own lives?
What exterior thoughts or influences do we want to send out?

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Section 5:

How peaceful was the life that Jesus led? (“… the world hated me before it hated you.”  (John 15:18/cit. B12)
When we follow him, are we looking for a peaceful and easy life? (“… you will encounter storms… This is the cross… through it you win and wear the crown.” (cit. S27/254:27)
What are the potential temptations that we’ll be faced with?
What are the ultimate blessings of following Jesus’ teachings? (“My peace I give unto you…” John 14:27 / cit. B13)

Possible Sunday School Topics (PSSTs) for Section 6:

When we learn to follow Jesus’ example, what responsibility do we have to our fellow man?  (“It is possible, — yea, it is the duty and privilege of every child, man, and woman, – to follow in some degree example of the Master by the demonstration of Truth and Life, of health and holiness.” (cit. S30/37:22-25)
