- Enjoy Ken’s YouTube poem, “In Him We Live And Move And Have Our Being”
- Ken’s new YouTube poem, “INFINITY,” we listen, and so hear the words of infinity.
[Ken writes:] “The Golden Text contains in the sentence “He (God) is your life.” the “multum in parvum” of Christian Science for THERE IS NO OTHER LIFE, THERE IS NOTHING ELSE.
God is defined as “incorporeal, divine, supreme, INFINITE Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love”, (Science & Health (S&H) citation #S1/p. 465:9, my capitals) This covers all the attributes of God, the entirety of what God is, and therefore also of man, the perfect expression of all that God is. Without Life, the other attributes would not exist. Without each other, they would have no meaning. Life is “without beginning and without end.” (citation #S2/468:25-3). So therefore, is everything that God is. The phrase “God is All-in-all” mirrors “God is your life”. “God is All-in-all” occurs eight times in S&H, and is well worth looking up in “Concord.” It confirms the infinity of Life. Life can be nothing else. There is no place where Life, perfect Life, is not evident.
The qualities of God are all necessarily and completely expressed by man. In the same way that the Commandments are not orders, but in Science, statements of fact, so the Golden Text can be seen as a statement of fact, for man can be nothing else than God’s image, and is nothing else: “Be completely faithful to the Lord your God, love him with all you are, and do whatever he tells you. The Lord is the only one who can give true life, and with Him you will live in the land that he promised to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to be with them, for ever.” (Golden Text, Deuteronomy 30:20, whole verse, Combined Translations) This is the promise of life everlasting, a life that is full, and overflowing with blessings (as in last week’s lesson).
In the poem “In Him We Live And Move And Have Our Being” we witness the harmony and perfection of life in God. This statement of Paul is all inclusive, – no one is excepted, for God is Life, infinite Life, our forever life. The description given is not of what will be, but of the eternal NOW of being, the timelessness of God being All that He is. Salvation is not what we wait for, but experience now. “Work out you own salvation” is the demand of Life and Love, for to this end God worketh with you.” (citation #S4/22:11), and this links in with the Bible verse referred to at the end of my poem: “Now is come salvation”, – the word “now” confirming the essence of section 2 that time is immaterial for there is only in God’s eyes the perfection of now. Life has no history or future, – it is the effervescence of now. In simple terms, “now” is eternal, it is the I AM THAT I AM, the inseparability of God and man, and all that God is.
“I suddenly knew the perfection of Love,
The freedom of Truth,
The purity of Life eternal”
We live in the purity of God’s infinite goodness, the purity of the kingdom of heaven, now and ever now. There is nothing than can ever harm us, for nothing exists outside God’s present goodness. Purity excludes matter.
Living in the house of the Lord for ever (citation #B24/Ps. 23:6) is the acceptance of the now of present perfection. When we look up, as in the poem “INFINITY”, we listen, and in that listening we hear the words of infinity. The Word bears witness of itself, and man is the result.
The Word knows all, and that is all we can know, all we need. There is nothing else. Perfection is always complete and Life is always perfect! Look up and see! Feel and discover what infinity really means. God is all there is, “and there is none else.”
THE INFINITE HAS NO OPPOSITES. IN LIFE THERE IS NO DEATH.
The poem looks at each of the synonyms of God, and notes that “Life is the eternal vibrancy of existence”. It concludes:
“The infinity of God is the completeness of man. (see citation #S23/264:15)
Now and always”
Man can never be outside infinity, never apart from God. We are never separate from all that God is, for we are the living proof of all that God is. God is our only life, all our life, our very being.
“… Life is God” (citation #S32/496:9). The All-in-all of God is the infinity of God made manifest as man, the life and substance of man, the God in whom we live (dwell!) and move and have our being, “to will and to do of His good pleasure”. (citations B#1/Phil. 2:13, B#24/Ps. 23:6)
“And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31 to 1st.)
God, Life, Truth, Love, was pleased with what He made: we serve His purpose, and are so blessed!
In us, God is so well pleased.
