Cherishing Future Generations of Christian Science Youth

Continuing the mission: The CedarS Endowment was established to ensure a perpetual source of support to serve the camp’s mission.

What does the Endowment support?  Endowment funds are utilized in the following mission-critical ways:

To hire, train, and retain an outstanding and spiritually-minded staff;

To ensure safe and well-maintained facilities, vehicles, and equipment;

To offer innovative programs that meet the needs and interests of today’s youth;

To provide a CedarS experience to young people from all walks of life who desire to grow in Christian Science.

How does the Endowment work?

Because endowed gifts exist in perpetuity, donors to the endowment create a lasting legacy.  When gifts are invested, the principal value is never touched, and a set percentage of their income is distributed each year for use by CedarS.  Over time, each gift gains in value, supplying increasing resources and blessings into the future.

What is the long-term impact of a gift to the Endowment?
The endowment provides a reliable pool of funds that enables CedarS to meet budgetary obligations when other sources of income fluctuate. The sustained benefit of a gift to the endowment far surpasses its original value. The long-term impact of these gifts are beyond measure, ensuring a vibrant future for CedarS and supporting current and future generations of Sunday School students.

What level of support does the Endowment currently provide, and what is the long-term goal?
The current endowment supports approximately 7% of CedarS' annual expenses.  Our goal is to increase the endowment from its current value of $6 million to $20 million.  Once the endowment reaches the $20 millon goal, the income from the endowment would ensure that the camp's facilities are well-maintained into the future, while still helping to support strategic priorities in staffing, programming, and outreach.

Special Matching Opportunity:

This is the fifth and final year of our $1 million match.  Thanks to generous donors, the next $200,000 in contributions to the CedarS Endowment will be matched dollar-for-dollar.  This matching challenge offers an opportunity to double the impact of your gift and help grow the CedarS Endowment to a level that provides substantial support for our mission into the future.

Invitation to Partner:

Gifts to the endowment are especially vital to CedarS. If you care deeply about helping young people learn to live and love Christian Science, we invite you to partner with CedarS through a one-time donation, a multi-year pledge, or a planned gift. Every gift is important, needed, and tax-deductible.

What our donors & parents say

"My family has been actively involved with CedarS for over fifty years.  We’ve decided a substantial contribution to the CedarS Endowment Fund is the best investment we can make to ensure that a place where Christian Science is put into action is preserved for future generations."

- Donor

"I truly believe that going to a Christian Science camp is the best way for our children to build on the foundation they are getting in our Sunday School. I think it helps ground them in Science. Cedars is definitely meeting the need for these children and as a parent I cannot express enough gratitude for the opportunity my child had in being able to attend."

- Parent

"CedarS is a Christian Science proving ground that’s vibrant, growing, and helping today’s youth discover God’s presence in their daily lives.  At Wednesday testimony meetings, there’s frequently a long line of testifiers waiting their turn.  Campers go home and share these healings in their branch churches, enriching their Sunday Schools.  Counselors often become so excited about Christian Science that they sign up for Class Instruction.  And many alumni go on to serve as Christian Science practitioners or Christian Science nurses, readers, Sunday School teachers, and active contributors to the Movement.
