Travel Guidelines for 2021

“The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” (Psalms 121:8)

Please continue to check back:  This site will be updated regularly as new guidelines and information become available.

Request for Drive-in Arrivals and Departures:

This summer, we are asking families to drive their campers to camp whenever possible. CedarS Express will not be operating in its traditional form.  Throughout the session, each camper will need to have a parent or designated caregiver ready and available to pick up their camper within 24-48 hours, if there is a need.

Limited Shuttle Service Possibility:

If your camper would not be able to come to camp without airport transportation, please reach out. We hope to provide a small-scale, fee-based shuttle service to accommodate campers whose families can’t bring them to camp or who don’t have a way to get from the airport to camp. As summer nears, we will provide more information about this potential, special cases option.

Drive-in Arrivals to Camp:

  • Our check-in window at camp will be 8:00am-3:00pm on opening Sunday.
  • Parents of enrolled campers will be emailed a request to register their arrival and departure times, including any times outside of the official check-in window.
  • Please drive directly to the Sports Center for check-ins.  To meet 2021 guidelines, anybody other than the enrolled camper will be required to remain in their vehicle at drop off.  We will greet the camper, complete screening requirements, and unload their luggage while family members remain in the vehicle.  Campers will be taken to their cabins by our staff.
  • Opening Sunday Schedule:
          • 10:00am Sunday School
          • 12:30pm Lunch
          • 1:30pm Unpack and Settle into Cabins
          • 3:30pm Afternoon Assigned Activities
          • 6:00pm Dinner and Introductions
          • 7:00pm Hymn Sing

Car Rentals:

Both the Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) have rental car options if you chose to fly with your children and then rent a car to bring them to camp.

Incoming Flights:

  • Book flights to arrive on Sunday (not on Saturday, as in previous years).
  • Incoming flights should arrive on opening Sunday of a session.  The best airport option is Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF), which is a one-hour drive from camp. SGF airport is served by Allegiant, American, Delta, and United. If you are flying into SGF, CedarS may be able to provide a shuttle to camp for a fee.  The optimal arrival window for flights is between 8:00am and 4:00pm on opening Sunday.  It is possible that flights arriving after 4:00pm could be accommodated.
  • The St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) is a three-hour drive from camp.  It is served by all major airlines.  If you are flying into STL and need to book a shuttle to camp, one option is Excel Transportation (314-741-6550 or www.excelstl.com).  This company is owned by a Principia family. We are also looking into offering a few fee-based CedarS shuttle opportunities.  The optimal arrival window for flights is between 8:00am and 2:30pm on opening Sunday.   It is possible that flights arriving after 2:00pm could be accommodated.

Drive-in Departures from Camp:

  • Our check-out window at camp will be 8:30am-Noon on closing Friday. This is a firm pick-up window.
  • Please drive directly to the Sports Center for pick-ups.  To meet 2021 guidelines, everyone in your party will need to remain in the vehicle at pick-up.

Departing Flights:

  • Book departing flights on Friday (not on Saturday, as in previous years).
  • The best airport option is Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF), which is a one-hour drive from camp.  SGF airport is served by Allegiant, American, Delta, and United. If you are flying out of SGF, CedarS may be able to provide a shuttle to the airport for a fee.  Book departing flights between 10:00am and 3:00pm.
  • If you are flying out of STL and need to book a shuttle from camp to the airport, one option is Excel Transportation (314-741-6550 or www.excelstl.com).  This company is owned by a Principia family. We are also looking into offering a few fee-based CedarS-to-STL airport shuttle opportunities.  Flights need to depart after 2:00pm to make it to the airport on time.  The optimal departure window is 2:00pm-6:00pm.

Stay tuned for 2022:  We plan to resume the full CedarS Express operation in 2022.
