2010 Sustain-ability Workshops

Sustainability seems more important today than ever before in human history as humanity struggles to live within our means in regards to our resources so that we can help preserve our planet, its climate and its diversity of species.  CedarS is taking steps to model being as "green" as we can in every area possible--including our camp color. CedarS most unique contribution to young Christian Scientists and the world will always be in fulfilling our published purpose: "to give each camper an appreciation of spiritual sense and an abundance of wholesome, joyous activity."

With this in mind we are hosting a summer-long series of workshops to explore and gain a spiritual sense of sustainability. We are exploring what "the inspired Word of the Bible" offers us in this regard as "our sufficient guide to eternal (sustainable) Life"  (From the top of the last page before the Key to the Scriptures, S&H 497:3)
At the top of the first page of the Preface to Science and Health we have a citation that provides a springboard for our theme T-shirt and our practice of the spiritual sense of sustainabilty:  "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." (vii:1)  Three Bible characters who leaned on God whole-heartedly to sustain them are the focus of our Biblical models of sustainability. They are Moses, Elijah and Jesus. (Watch here for more about them in the future--such as sustainability concept cards to be earned at camp by learning the fun lessons they teach.
Every spiritual healing comes about by glimpsing a spiritual sense of one's eternally sustained abilities as a child of God. Desiree Goyette's theme song for our new video is all about healing and achieving our goal to be a camp of healers. (You can listen by clicking here.)

2 Cor. 9:8-11 is another CedarS sustainability theme citation which is especially helpful for us to be able to pass along “charitable donation”s of camperships to the many applicants for them this summer. (See Giving webpage.)  As The Amplified Bible puts 2 Cor. 9:8-11: And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation. 9”As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever. 10And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity] 11Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God.”]
